The Knicks before this trade needed someone to fill in for them losing Hartenstein to free agency. They hoped for a solid role player, maybe a descent defender. What they got was a starting modern era Center (Stretch the floor, rebounds, some defense from the 4-5 position). KAT is a clear upgrade over Hartenstein overall and will give the Knicks a lot of different looks offensively. But someone good had to go as well, and that was Dante. Randle is the central reason why the Knicks are in the modern era of basketball, no one good wanted to play for James Dolan and the Knicks, many still do not, but he at least helped changed that perception, and he and Dante will be junk yard dawgs for Minnesota.

KAT a way better defender than Julius and offensively Julius put way more pressure at the rim. Both of them fall off in the postseason.
Kat is such a bad player he's almost a 50/40/90. Player only a few players in the history of the league have accomplished this he can play the 4 and the 5 he's the best shooting big man in the league numbers don't lie and he does play defense ask joker he's not the best also not the worst. Yet the knicks are now worst. 100% haters.
Randle is not, and never has been an enforcer or a bully ball player. He LOOKS like an enforcer. He LOOKS like a bully ball player. He's really a finesse player with muscles who takes more threes than KAT and settles for that broken pull up jumper more than he attacks the rim. He's also never wanted smoke with anyone besides the refs and his own teammates, coaches, and fans. He's an inefficient, statpadding turnover box who doesn't play defense. Over the last two years, the less Randle played, the more the Knicks won. Glad he's gone. No team serious about winning a title would have Randle starting and finishing games.
