Cousins saying the Lakers “aren’t serious anymore” since they drafted Bronny

To me, this comes off as pure unadulterated hating behavior. He knows damn well if he was “serious” about his own career- things like staying in shape, adding now skills, buying into offensive/defensive schemes, he would have had a much better career. Taking shots at a kid is in poor, very poor taste. Acting like the 55th pick in any draft is the deciding factor for “seriousness” of a team. What do you all think?

He was the 55th pick. 55th picks almost NEVER become NBA prospects. If he fails, it’s normal. If he succeeds, it’s amazing.

Goofy ass motherfuckers thinking the 55th pick should be NBA ready right away. FOH

Agree. Extremely poor attitude and yet another terrible statement from Cousins. 55th pick is literally nothing.

Using a late second round pick to keep a star happy ain’t nothing new.

Giving that 55th pick a fully guaranteed contract is hilarious though.

  4. ChiefRicimer

He’s just mad he doesn’t have a roster spot anywhere

55th pick but after seeing him in summer league and preseason, don’t act he wouldn’t be in China rn if his dad wasn’t LeBron.

  6. ttttyttt678

How many times has the 55th pick impacted a championships directly? If the FRP was used than sure but Knecht is on the team…

  7. I feel like he’ll suit up for a game or two then sub him in with his dad for historical reasons, but I think he’ll be in the G league primarily , and we’re the lakers we’re always serious

I really don’t give a shit if Bronny has earned this. LeBron has. He is easily worth 2 roster spots and a max contract + a rookie deal.

  9. Apparently keeping lebron in LA means we’re not serious about winning anymore lmao

  10. reldnahcAL

we were serious about retaining the best player to ever lace up a pair of basketball shoes

This loser should be grateful we gave him his first ring without playing a single minute. If he wasn’t such a clown he would still be in the league instead of China or where ever the hell he is playing now.

    Bronny putting up 0’s 😤

It’s every baseball pitcher’s dream to put up 0’s. If that isn’t greatness then I don’t know what is.

Dumb shit. Players good enough to play in the league will play in the league. Bronny getting drafted has nothing to do with them making a team.

Fcking crybabies over this shit. If this were 1980…this could make sense because of the limited scope in finding talent. But it’s 2024.

  14. I love how the 55th pick in a weak draft all the sudden became a game changer, the haters are getting desperate grasping at straws

  15. SolarBeam12

There’s a lot of things you can criticize the Lakers for in the last decade, drafting Bronny with the 55th pick shouldn’t be the thing that tipped the scale.

  16. incredibleamadeuscho

If the Lakers weren’t serious, they would sign this fool to a guaranteed contract.

  17. MychalScarn08

Listen to the actual interview. Didn’t hear him mention Bronnys name once, he said lakers didn’t make the moves he expected from a competitor.

Why do you care about what Boogie thinks anyways?

  18. karl_hungas

Dudes always been a clown. Not sure why anybody cares about his opinions.

  19. JayHerboGaming

He’s mad he got cut after tearing his ACL the year the Lakers won the title

  20. Theoneandonlylog

Lakers haven’t been serious for a while but bronny isn’t the reason

  21. Lets see how Bronny plays out. Everyone is throwing knives.

  22. JaxonSuede

If Bronny is on the NBA roster after the first game, then I’d agree this season isn’t going to be about winning. Boogie isn’t wrong.

  23. WideCoconut2230

NBA players work out all kinds of side perks in their deals- free housing, use of private jet to bring family to the games, etc. Some perks are simply agreements. LBJ wants his son, he gets it.

  24. SlowCrates

Can we let the kid play a season before we make up our minds about him? Holy Christ people can’t wait to tear him a part, he’s never even played a regular season game yet for fuck’s sake.

  25. funandloving95

It’s so funny watching fans be offended about someone calling out the truth like how dare they tell the truth😂😂😂

  26. Justified_Gent

Well Cousins has his view. But this brings up a slightly different issue:

I think the perception around the league is that players THINK the lakers aren’t serious or at the minimal, are just doing whatever LeBron wants (eg hire JJ, make-a-wish for Bronny) and free agents don’t want to deal with that.

Whether or not the lakers are prioritizing winning internally is separate from the optics.

  27. K0CKULEES

    Lmao fuck boogie.

Dude got a lot of nerve talking about who takes the nba serious.

  28. Using the 55th pick to draft him is not the issue. It’s keeping the 55th pick on the roster instead of having him in the g league and using that roster spot on a veteran free agent that can help the team win.

  29. The Lakers and nepotism go hand-in-hand like Pick ‘n Roll.

  30. TorontoRaptors34

Bronny has nothing to do with Rob Pelinka not making moves 😭
