Castle just makes winning play after winning play. Spurs have their 1B star.
I’m a recovering Keldon Johnson hater, feel free to talk shit to me if you like
Yoooo proud of these guys for fighting till the end.
Well closer than it had any right to be. Loved seeing Castle get real aggressive at the end, gonna be a stud.
Turns out he’s also clutch on top of being an insane rookie.
Castle is such a gamer. Game was getting out of hand at the end and his play gave the Spurs a shot at the come back.
Spurs have until Halloween to decide on the 4th year option for Branham, but I really wonder if he’s even worth keeping this year. He just doesn’t fit.
Sochan’s off ball movement has clearly leveled up. Easy points like that make a difference
Castle is going to be easily the second best player on the spurs roster. Dude”s passing and defence is way ahead of his age
Good game. I liked many things I saw despite the turnovers etc. Castle will be too good not to start soon it feels like
We had **21 turnovers** that game, I could say a bunch of other minor stuff about the game but that was what lost it for us, easily.
On the upside, Sochan was crazy in the paint, he went 9-13 and had 18 points that game (and 11 rebounds). Also shoutout to Chris Paul for putting in 25 minutes in a pre-season game.
Is it me or is Wemby quietly having a terrible preseason 😅
If Blake hits that… I would have gone streaking. NBASpurs is back baby.
Sochan haters looking silly
Chris Paul made some odd turnovers and his defense looks like it’ll be kinda bad. He can’t keep up with guys anywhere near as much as he used to. He’s smart but between his size and being slower, he’s gonna be a negative defender for us
This season is going to be so much more fun than the last one
Not bad considering the first half TOs and FT disparity
#The good
– Castle is a baller
– The team looks solid on defense
– Chris Paul is still incredibly sharp for being an old man
– Wemby
#The bad
– The offense stinks
– Spacing is atrocious
– Sochan can’t go though an entire season just dunking the ball
– Zach Collins should be banned
– The NBA world expects us to make the play in
Branham had a prove it game tonight running the ball thru him at the end. Lots of near turnovers and out of position passes made. Some good.
Castle gonna be beyond freaking good!!! I’ve been wavering my hype watching every game minute of him, always love watching how fast rookies can adapt to pros, and if he keeps his worth ethic this dude could very well be a top player in the league in the next few years.
Took Castle time to warm up but when he did, things started flowing. His assist rate continues to be impressive & would be so much higher with 2-4 more spacers on the Spurs.
to anyone who are just looking at the boxscore and wondering why Castle is getting praises, he looked wonderful and almost won us the game by attacking the basket, getting FTs and being proactive and making plays. He’s soon gonna be our 2nd or 3rd best player (maybe he already is)
I wish Blake had a 3…. He’d be so easy to slot into a spot if he could hit even 35% from 3…
He’s really good defensively and his court vision is much improved.
Even with a rough game Castle showed a lot of consistent stuff. He’s already one of the best foul drawers on this team, and that will just open up his game.
The game result is by no means representative given the closing lineups, but it’s cool that the Spurs managed to stay competitive with a playoff team in their home court.
Castle my sweet FT merchant… he needs to teach mon chou Wemby his ways
Castle plays like Jimmy Butler
Very surprising number of TOs for someone who is regarded to have lowest AST-TO ratio.
Oh the things I would do if It would magically guarantee that castle would get 25 minutes a night, and get to be a lead ball handler for at least half of them this season.
The Spurs aren’t Dumb and obviously have a plan for his long-term development, but it’s just night and day how much better he is from an impact perspective when he plays on the ball on both sides of the Court, versus when he’s asked to stand in the corner or be a help defender.
about half of his minutes he really didn’t do much besides Miss I’m open threes, but then in the second half when he finally got the opportunity to have the ball for more than 2 seconds and start driving just like every other game this preseason, good things just continued to happen. Not to mention how great he was as an on-ball defender
this is going to have to be a patient trust type season for a lot of Spurs fans cuz again I think it’s going to be a while before he really really forces pop’s hand and gets the minutes and roll I think he’s already ready for, but the reality is well it may not be a super talented roster, it is indeed deep
Perimeter defense is still pretty awful. Even though they didn’t shoot 3s well for the first three quarters, the Heat got a ton of open shots from beyond the arc.
That aside, this was a good game. A few less turnovers (a plurality of which came in the first quarter) and I think the team could have won.
