[Slater] Moses Moody is extension-eligible until Monday’s deadline. Warriors & Moody’s reps have discussed the framework of a possible deal, league sources said, near the MLE range for multiple seasons. At a palatable number, they believe Moody’s talent & character are worth investing in long-term

Please please please get this done.

MM at 4 years for AAV of < $15M will be a steal

Hell yeah. Def want years 23-28 of Moses Moody I. A Warriors uniform. It’s only a matter of time before you just can’t keep dude off the court.

~$14m/year was where I expected this to land. I think locking Moses in at that number is a solid move, even given the rotation and minutes concerns this year.

  4. we_hella_believe

4 year $60 million sounds like a steal.

They need to extend him before he breaks out this season.

  6. Ohmeygaz

If they could get him for around 11-12M a season, it would probably be worth it even with the inconsistent role so far. Would also put them in a nice spot where they aren’t completely screwed if Melton performs at a level where we can’t afford him next offseason.

Money wise I guess it’s a good think Kerr tried to cook this kid’s career for 3 years

  8. HeirKuminga

Give him the Curry 4 years for $44M deal.

  9. by_yes_i_mean_no

He’s better than Kuminga so getting him at 10-15 million a year would be very preferable to getting Kuminga at 30+ million a year

Honestly might have to sign one or both asap. I get the suspicion if they wait on both it’s likely they may end up only being able to afford only one by next off season. I don’t see any realistic star options worth trading for at the deadline so might as well lock those 2 and put to rest any trade speculations for the season.

If we pay him then Kerr has to play him 🤓

  12. Klonomania

That’s more than he’d get on the market as of now, so if his agent is smart he is telling him to sign that.

This whole situation sounds like they’re holding his playing time hostage. He can’t get reassurances he’s definitely in the rotation yet but they like him enough to want to extend him? 🤨

Sounds like extend at the “palatable number” they want now and he’ll finally get to play but if he turns it down and bets on himself (as he should because he’s worth a hell of a lot more than the MLE based on his actual ability to play) then welp he might find himself having a hard time getting off that bench again this year.

  14. Great attitude to have about the situation. I like Moody!

    >Moody has yet to carve out a regular role in Kerr’s rotation after three seasons

interesting way of saying Kerr has not given him a regular role in three seasons

  16. If we can secure him for something close to what the Celtics handed to Payton Prichard that would be great value

  17. It’d be crazy not to extend him after capping his minutes for the longest time.

His first three years were not exactly blockbuster. Avg of 5.9 pts a game for the last three years with a bump last year to 8.1, he’s still got a ways to go to prove he is a 10-15 pts per game role player. He’d be crazy not to lock in the MLE and set himself up for life, and take the pressure off a bit so he can focus on hoopin.

moody in 5 preseason games this year : 15.8 pts 3.0 reb 1.8 ast on 44/44/98 shooting splits

kuminga in 5 preseason games last year : 21.8 pts 5.8 reb 3.0 ast on 55/46/76 shooting splits

as we saw kuminga broke out in 2023/24 when he was given consistent playing time especially the latter half of the season after he went to the media to voice his frustrations with kerr about his lack of trust to play kuminga late in games

hopefully moody can follow that same path this season as we saw kuminga did last season

Yes, please do this asap. At the beginning of training camp I advocated to signing Moody to a long term deal but letting Kuminga play it out.

Moody’s contract will end up being a massive under pay. That you can always trade later if necessary.

Kuminga’s deal was always going to be a huge massive which the Dubs don’t gain anything by doing that now. Just wait.
