I think the Spurs putting Wemby on minute restriction during preseason is smart. He’s still getting reps while also not risking him to injury on meaningless games. Vassel, Collins, and Bassey are still on the injury report for their team. They don’t need Wemby to show out during preseason, the Spurs need to figure out who they’re picking and cutting for their final roster anyway.
Wemby will be good, but won’t ever be DOMINANT the way he plays. Still loves to jack up 3’s and doesn’t dominate down low despite his superior height and length.
Again, he’ll still be good and will be an all time defensive player. But I can’t see him being truly dominant on offense like Shaq, Hakeem, Duncan, Kareem, etc.
Instead of seeking out TIM DUNCAN or Hakeem Olajuwon (one that lives in the same city as him, and the other just 3 hours away), to develop elite post skill…he seeks out an inefficient 6th man in Jamal Crawford during the offseason…to work on developing crazy HANDLES. His HANDLES!!!
We all know what he wants to be. It’s not scoring way buckets in the paint, it’s being a flashy perimeter scorer with highlight handles.

Not seeing the improvement in jump shooting I was hoping to see, but everything else looks better. He's passing with precision, crashing the boards, not biting on fakes, and driving to the rim with ease
His next leap will happen when he realizes how much more deadly he is in the paint area. But it will take a while. Like how MJ had to learn how to trust his teammates, Shaq had to stop making albums and focus, how LeBron had to take over games in the end or how Curry had to tape his ankles more, Victor’s next leap will come from playing mostly inside out instead of outside in.
The spurs need to get wemby to focus on his inside game and test other ways to score besides pull up 3s. He can always work on becoming a better shooter but he's just not that good right now and this is the time to try developing the rest of his game while the team stinks.

He should play more closer to the basket. He is trying too much to be a 7'5 guard.
