Kareem Abdul Jabbar and Shaq have had a misunderstood relationship over the years dating back to when Shaq was in his early playing days. His name would get mentioned in talks of the ‘greatest center of all time’ however up until the 1999 season, he had only been to the Finals once when he was with the Magic and was coming off back to back season ending sweeps against the Utah Jazz and San Antonion Spurs after moving west to join the Lakers. Kareem had some open (and harsh) criticism of Shaq that it’s hard to be considered the greatest when you haven’t won on the greatest stage. Shaq took that to heart and it motivated him to a 3-peat with the Lakers and another championship with the Miami Heat later in his career. The two big men settled their supposed beef on air and Shaq even addresses that he had to accept the harsh critcism when it was delivered by somebody with the credentials to do so. Much respect to Shaq and The Cap 🙌
