OKC Thunder Lose Isaiah Hartenstein For Weeks, Who Steps up?

The Oklahoma City Thunder have seen Isaiah Hartenstein go down due to injury during Tuesday’s preseason game against the Denver Nuggets. The OKC Thunder will be without Hartenstein for the first five-to-six weeks of the regular season, Rylan Stiles discusses what the Thunder can do now in his place. What if Jaylin Williams and Kenrich Williams can or can not return in time for the season opener? Kawhi Leonard is also sidelined for the LA Clippers, what does that mean for the Thunder? Will Dillon Jones and Ousmane Dieng step up? Should OKC go make another roster move to fill the hole left behind by Hartenstein?

  1. I would'nt be surprised to see this as a chess move by the team. No need for him to play all 82 regular season games. Can spend the first however many weeks learning the team like chet did when injured. Not the same situation, but I'm certainly not worried over any of it.

  2. Soooo… this means we're forced to reluctantly drag out a team that was the first seed last year minus their biggest weakness replaced by Alex Caruso and some of our young guys can get some run? Oh no😂

  3. Basically going back to last year so I mean it hurst and we may lose some games we would have won with Iheart (I’m thinking Denver specifically, joker is just to good to overlook and Iheart would help against him) we should be good tho! Thunder up!!!

  4. I had the same injury in my knee. Recovery is just not moving the area and allowing the bone to heal. Once it is healed there is no need for recovery. You are good to go as new

  5. This Okc team will surprise y’all they will be undefeated waiting on iheart to comeback Carlos Caruso is real. Cason improve we don’t have the same team as last year everyone got better literally

  6. Still better then last year AC in starting line up and not giddy we still better then last year

  7. that’s it. they need to go out and just give dwight howard a chance

we have nothing to lose but everything to gain with him on the team

  8. Wonder if IHart had the same injury as Jaylen Brunson during the playoffs? Player was back in action before you know it. Otherwise, at least it’s now instead of April. Next man up!

  9. Tbh I feel like the Thunder are good enough to stay afloat without iHart. If he comes back In December after extra rest he still has a couple months before ASW to work on his role as a starter. Seemed like a seamless fit when we did see him

  10. The seasons a marathon not a race! He will be back and ready to work with the squad and find what works for the playoffs 🙂

  11. When we signed Bismack Biyombo last year, some Memphis Grizzlies podcaster described Biyombo as "always the best big man not under contract in the NBA." So I guess we're back here again.

  12. Honestly I’m not even worried he’ll only miss about 15 games and luckily it was only a hand injury compared to a knee or ankle injury

  13. To all of you Thunder fans who think the Giddey/Caruso trade was a great thing you're all about to get a true education on why you don't ever change things when you have a season like they did last year now that Hartenstein will be sitting out for at least 6 weeks. It was an idiotic trade and a massive downgrade in overall talent. Now this is exactly the same team we had last year but it's a true swap between those two players and Hartenstein won't be around to make up the difference. Prepare to be educated.

  14. "The Sky hasn't fallen. Don't be such a pessimist. We might get 2 of our Williams' back soon…Actually IHart & all 3 of our Williams' are out…Ok, now we're totally f**ked"

  15. Other than Chet, who would be the backup big man assuming Kenny and JWill are out, does Dieng or DJ step up or something else

  16. Losing him is potentially worse than we think. It would low key suck that he can never find his way into the team because we win in another way and he ends up being an overpaid benchwarmer like hayward was. But i bet this will be minor and we get him back great.
