Klay is washed, but because he’s one of the greatest shooters ever, him being washed is still 18 PPG on 39% from 3 and 41% after all star break.
Theres a huge difference between needing a streaky shooter to be your second option next to Steph just struggling to make the play in because Draymond got suspended for half the season, Wiggins disappeared again, etc,

needing him to be a 3rd to 5th option to hit shots given to him by arguably the best player in the league and a perennial MVP candidate about to enter his prime and Kyrie Irving who is still good for 25/5/5 on damn near 50/40/90.
And yea, something else is that his playmaking and chemistry with rolling big men is super underrated. Theres a big difference between doing that with Trayce Jackson Davis, and 48 minutes of Dereck Lively or Daniel Gafford
The problem with Klay is his consistency, and the extreme gap between his bad and good shooting nights. The dude doesn't have mid bad game. If he goes off, he goes off. If he has bad night, he's only a 20% shooter at best. But if he's really that bad, he'd have way lower averages which he doesn't. I say if he plays 70 games this year, 30 of those will be bad games.
Its pointless looking at pre season for how he's going to fit into the Mavs system, because the Mavs system is LUKA, who hasn't played 1 minute. 80%+ of Klays minutes for the Mavs will be playing in a system that the Mavs have not even played in pre season because Luka hasn't been playing. The pre season so far only shows how Klay will play in the limited mins each game he plays when Luka isn't on the floor which is essentially a completely different system.

Klay Thomson has been inconsistent ever since he came back from the acl. He just isn't the same player.
