Austin Reaves, Anthony Davis Fuel Lakers’ 123-116 Win Over Phoenix Suns! 2-0 in Redick Era!
It took some doing, but the Lakers are off to a 2-0 start for the first time since October 2010 after coming back from down 22 points and notching a 123-116 win over the Phoenix Suns. KevIn Durant, Devin Booker and the gang got off to an absolutely scorching start, hitting 8 of their first 11 shots from behind the arc and generally running the Lakers’ defense ragged. But the Lakers absorbed that unsustainable punch, and first sparked by a series of great two-way plays by Austin Reaves, kept chipping away, regained control of the game, then closed her out.
Anthony Davis put up another 30+ (35 to be exact), LeBron James was a big presence in the fourth quarter (six points, three assists, including a back-to-back pair of dimes to set up Gabe Vincent and Rui Hachimura triples), and strong sparks were provided by Jaxson Hayes and rookie Dalton Knecht. The Lakers also finally discovered their own outside shot after a frigid start, connecting on 51 percent from deep. (Reaves was 5-7).
The Sacramento Kings await Saturday night in the Crypt, but on a night where the Dodgers and Freddie Freeman enjoyed an iconic win,the Lakers did their best to avoid being completely overshadowed.

I remember when the suns were talking dynasty
just 2 wins but it's 2 wins against 2 playoff team.
This proves all it takes is an 🧠 intelligent diligent Coach like JJ who knows what he is doing to maximize Prime AD & LBJ even with a below average average roster.
👎This also exposes how stubbornly bad a non-coach Darvin was who use his time & energy in defending his inept matchup, clueless rotations & lazy no timeout with sound bites just to avoid being fired.
🤕The least he can do is to apologize to Laker fans for 2 years of heartache as well as wasting the championship windows of LBJ & AD

The meat and potatoes of this team have to be built on AD and Reaves.

Anybody else notice kerr somehow was able to play 14 players, 7 of the 9 subs played double digit minutes last nite. I know game minutes are longer in nba but still can't believe he couldn't play Jason Tatum at least 5-10 minutes in olympics. Thanks kerr you just got him more fired up this yr for Boston. Dam

I have to say, I was not a fan of the JJ hire but only two games, completely different team, I mean, these two games, they would had easily lost with a Darvin Ham team. Not saying it was completely his coaching but didn’t help, very optimistic for the season. I can see them being top 5 in the west. Oh, and they don’t have Vando back yet! Com’on man, they are a much better and locked in team.

Pretty much same roster, but new coach. JJ has been so good for us. Darvin Scam would have folded with his hands in his pockets.

JJ’s offense really is bringing out the best in our players. Reeves, Rui, AD and Hayes are really peaking in it. Gabe looks healthy finally. I will say DLO seems to be the odd man out on the offense with the starters since it’s catered toward AD as the hub. DLO’s game requires him to be the main ball handler and making plays, but JJ’s offense is more ball movement/screening and spot up shooting. I think we won’t see moves until Vando and Wood get healthy.
I told y'all last year, Jaxson Hayes just needed a coach. He's always had the energy and athleticism, but he's young. Ham wasn't the kind of coach who utilized him, he just stuck him out there and hoped for the best. Reddick unlocking Jaxson Hayes is important.
