Is it PANIC time? Paolo Banchero drops 50 Points in Indiana Pacers 119-115 loss to the Orlando Magic

Alex Golden and Mike Facci are back to recap another heartbreaking Pacers loss. It’s only 4 games into the season, but is it time to panic? The guys discuss that, what went wrong in this game, late game execution, weird rotations, boneheaded decisions in crunch time and more.

  1. The biggest question right now, what is up with Mathurins minutes??? Absolutely NONSENSE for him to not get significant minutes, Sheppard should NOT play over him, period.

  2. Mathurin led us in points agaisnt a fully healthy boston team without haliburton or siakam. This narrative of him not giving u wins while being our leadimg scorer is bad. We had a positive record last season when haliburton got injured pre siakam. A team led by mathurin.

  3. If the pacers are looking for getting someone. They might want to look at H.Jones of NO and S.Aldama of MEM.

As much as loyalty is important turner is a better back-up not a starting center. I would rather see someone who can grab the rebounds and doesn't know how to shoot 3s.

  4. The cope is getting a little out of hand fellas. The fish rots from the head. Rick is too rigid and stubborn. He's going to run guys out of town if he keeps this up. Say what you want about the Colts at least they seem to understand you have to let guys play thru it to see what you have.

  5. Setting the pace beginning to sound just like Pacers sound always working to put a positive spin on obvious negatives… issues Nembhard is not as good as they are trying to use him, Tyrese is no longer initiating offense, Myles is the worst starting center rebounder of all time … the best pure scorer Mathurin has no room for error and is wasted on the bench…. Listening to two guys try to spin every negative into a positive is exhausting,,, Rick Carlisle mad changes to the offense and it’s not working

  6. The Pacers barely made the playoffs last year and because Rick is stubborn and won’t go back to a Tyrese initiated offense is giving up games that will matter at the end of the season… I know you guys want to get interviews but starting to sound like you work for the Pacers

  7. Two close games in a row they needed a go to player. Mathurin who carried them at the end against Detroit not on the court in the moment he’s built for lmao

  8. I don't agree with your comments around Mathurin … if you go back and look at all his games, as soon as he makes one error on defence, he get pulled out of the game, and then by the time Rick puts him back in he has lost all rhythm and feel for the game … this has been happening for 3 years now, he needs to allow him to make mistakes and let him learn how to play through them, not just sit him down.
Also, one thing I know about basketball is that when the offence puts pressure on the defence, it makes idividuals have to work harder, so having Nesmith and Nembhard on the floor more than Mathurin is putting zero pressure on their defence which allows the players guarding them to waste no energy what so ever, which is why they end up dropping 40, 50 or 60 on us …

  9. Every time I'm critical of Turner I'm just called a hater. Been following Pacers since 80's and I don't get what fans see in this guy? Delusional in thinking we're going far with a non rebounding, soft center as a starter!

  10. Turner is who he is, I’m done hoping for rebounding/interior growth for nearly a decade, it’s either u accept it or let him go…I strongly think the problem is we got too caught up in our ECF appearance going through hurt teams and even resigning a 30 year old Siakam as if a 24 year old Haliburton and other young players are in their prime ready to get to the next level but they aren’t but I think the front office jumped the gun too fast because of what they saw in the first few months from Hali last year but should’ve stayed the course with our young players growth direction and organically (maybe) make a surprise contender pending on internal growth like Thunder, etc and if it don’t work THEN make moves from there

At this point Pacers need to make a decision either u play Walker and Mathurin and let them develop and learn from mistakes more than damn 2 mins on someone like banchero, guard assignments without being benched that quick but instead more time to learn tendencies in a quarter or two to improve or just trade them at this point, even if nesmith and Nembhard are better defenders, nesmith being a better defender at the 3 it’s still not all that effective being he’s basically the size of a SG, at the end of the day it’s not enough he’s 6’5 and banchero is 6’10 other elite 6’8+ wings/forwards are in the east and to be honest we shouldn’t even be having a conversation on Walker versus Nesmith but more so Toppin, this is the best we’re gonna get defensively with how we are playing rotation wise with seeing the stress with young guys rotations this is a perfect example of why u shouldn’t juggle trying to develop and win now at the same time definitely with potential promising lottery picks that need time on the floor to learn to just maybe bring out that potential , Pacers have to pick a direction

  11. About mathurin.. he gwts yanked from the game and stuck on the bench for the most minor of defensive errors. Meanwhile Nehmbard gets infinite free passes for having TONS of offensive errors. and while he is good defensively, the OPPOSING teams best player is routinely scoring 25+, so how wffective is his & neamiths defense anyways?
Our best stretch was the start of last season when our offense was our identity… you know who provides an iffensive spark? MATHURIN. it seems when mathurin does well, it rubs Carlisle the wrong way… heres a short example, last season when Mathurin had a career game of 30+ points and a good assist and rebounding performance, carlisle said "that sortve play has no place on this team", but when a guy like nehmbard has 2 back to bacl AWFUL GAMES where he scores a combined 2 or 4 points, carlisle doesnt even care one bit, telling the media "it just makes sense to continue to start nehmbard"…
Make it make sense. Carlisle clearly has a biased favoritism towards guys like Drew & Shepp, because they play mid-above average defense.. too many times ive seen Nehmbard hijack the offense and take like 3-4 shots in a row, tryna prove something. I dont dislike nehmbard, i just think the disparity in how rick rwards and punishes Nehmbard & Mathurin is glaringly obvious.
Personally if i was thr GM, id trade TJ for the most value he can get (even tho i love the dude, he will never be this valuable again) and move Nehmbard to thr bench, allowing him to run the second offense. And id insirt mathurin in the starting line up to help this teams starters regain its offensive identity. The bench isnt having these offensive problems, its been 90% the starters… nesmith and nehmbard are servicable, but Mathurin is clutch and has that dog in him to attack and lead this team offensivly…
If haliburton was really the point-god people claim he is (me included) he should be able to figure out how tf to play alongside our 6th overall pick from a couple years ago… or else this team is doomed to a decade of mid-performance

  12. I thought Turner had a bad game. It seemed like Isiah Jackson was more impactful in the game. I think Jackson should have been in the game down the stretch. I like Turner but the lack of rebounding and his defense didn't really stick out to me. I also don't understand why Carlisle won't give Walker more minutes especially against taller teams. Sometimes you need size on the floor to stop the other team from scoring.

  13. Yeah your talking about Sheppard and to me he should not play over Mathurin or Walker. Those guys are just better than him in my opinion. You have to have Mathurin out there. Nembhard played terrible in New York but his minutes are not affected; the fact that Jarace Walker has not played especially against Bancaro is ridiculous to me!

  14. Jarace Walker can guard him. Let the guy play; and what do you mean letting guys develop when your trying to win. They didn't WIN so it wouldn't matter anyway…

  15. I really wish we picked up a guy like hartenstein this offseason. Two games now Maxey and Paolo go off, yes a good amount of jumpers but when they cool off they get their baskets at the rack or ft line, we don’t have the rim protection presence from Turner nor the rebounding like IJax provided last night. I don’t think Mathurin fits well with our team ball sticks too much dribble dribble dribble like a guard version of Julius Randle leading to no off ball movement. It’s great offense when you’re 26th in pace but that’s not our style also way too inconsistent on defense making him unplayable. Shots aren’t falling but I love nesmith dude plays his ass off every night just not hitting shots yet like last year. I think we do need a bigger wing to help nesmith not have to guard a mismatch like Paolo like a Tatum but rim protection helps keep those guys from staying in a constant rhythm. Also really don’t like nembhard initiating the offense leading to a slow pace. Whole fourth quarter was him bringing it up no real ball movement and looking off Haliburton. I think the ball needs to stick with Hali and loved how he orchestrated the offense a lot of last night and demanding the ball from officials to push it just need to see it in 4th quarter time rather than trying to act like a half court team and only scoring 17 pts in a quarter

  16. Pascal Siakam should have played the entire 4th quarter. He may not might be having as good a quarter as the 3rd but he was doing well and the coach brought him out. The guys they brought in didn't do anything and let Orlando back in.
The coach killed Siakam's momentum and he had a hard time to get going again.

  17. It’s just the starters are making more mistakes than the short wired bench guys. It’s simply not fair to Harare or Benn. Getting pulled after one mistake is crazy. Myles has sold all three game in my opinion…

  18. NBA teams spent the off-season understanding how the Pacers play and , teams are now playing fast and physical. Improvement within the team didn't happen , and the team need length at the SF position. Pacers are now hunted, for reaching the conference finals.
Team need length to compete with lots of team that are lengthy and aggressive.
I think Pacers are also experimenting with a few concepts to answer some questions early in the season.
Shoutout to my fave #43VER🇨🇦 #Pascal Siakam

  19. The pacers will not go anywhere as long as Nembhard and Nesmith are starters. It showed in the playoffs last year. Nesmith is fine starting Nembhard is an issue. We have 2 point guards. This is going to implode and the coach will be fired. Nesmith can give everything he has he can’t guard 6’10 guys it’s a fucking joke! It’s a joke they haven’t addressed any issues with the roster. The defensive issues is all coaching

  20. Get Deandre Ayton he can give u a 20 or 30 point game with 20 rebounds that’s what we need bc Myles turner is to soft to go get a rebound and he’s acts to scared to go to the rim 👀👀😂😂🔥🔥💯💯
