For the people who think this is a overpay I like to hear what they think he’s worth. I mean 25-30 a million sounds about right for the level of shot creation he provides.
Miami has overpaid three of their current players now (Lowry, Robinson, & Herro). Pat is good with trades but with contract extensions? Not so much mate.

KD will say yes to a deal that gets him in Miami and Miami is in need of another star. Before, the only way you could make the money work would be with bam in the deal but there is so much wrong with that. For one, you wouldn’t want to give up one of your stars when you are in need of more star power, two he’s on the same rookie extension as Ben Simmons and a team can only have one player they traded for with that contract on their roster at a time. Now, Herro’s contract makes up a lot of that money and he’s not on that same extension so the nets can acquire him in a deal without parting ways with Ben Simmons. So now, the nets would get a young guy with some untapped potential, some other young guys, and a bunch of firsts for kd.
Let’s go even deeper, kyrie said he’s here to stay for this season but if it’s another disappointment he’ll likely leave in free agency. So you sign and trade him, part ways with all the old washed guys they have now, and trade kd for Herro Jovic another guy and like 5 firsts. Now the nets would have a younger roster built around Ben herro claxton and cam, they could still hang onto guys like harris and Seth curry and try to compete as a younger team or they could likely trade Ben seth and Harris for a total of maybe 6 firsts and completely reset like the thunder spurs.
