> On the cusp of training camp, as media day neared and the topic of Westbrook’s uncertain future continued to dominate the conversation around the NBA, sources with direct knowledge of the negotiations say the Lakers’ key decision-makers spent several days engaged in deep conversations about the feasibility of a blockbuster trade with Indiana.
> Vice president of basketball operations and general manager Rob Pelinka, owner Jeanie Buss and senior basketball adviser Kurt Rambis seriously considered sending Westbrook and unprotected first-round picks in 2027 and 2029 to the Pacers for center Myles Turner and guard Buddy Hield, sources said. They held a series of meetings in the days leading up to camp to analyze the possible Pacers deal from every angle, with the views of Ham and Lakers executives Joey and Jesse Buss also being strongly considered in the process. The organization even delayed the midweek news conference for Pelinka and Ham as the debate continued.
>Only time will tell if this sort of collaboration is the new norm for Lakers leadership, which in recent years had kept its inner circle small with Jeanie Buss, Pelinka and Rambis. Ironically, **the decision to bring Westbrook to town the prior summer in the trade with Washington was not made in this sort of fashion.**

Take him to Detroit
Get it done the more good teams the better for the league
Does that meet the requirements of a blockbuster?
I think the block is doing fine if that trade goes down.
Since when is Myles Turner and Buddy Hield worthy of the “blockbuster” tag lmfao
– Its Westbrook plus 2 unprotected firsts for Hield and Turner that was discussed mostly.
– Also discussed Kyrie, Clarkson and Bojan Bogdanovic in various trades
– Pacers owner thinks Hield, Turner and Haliburton is an intriguing core so made sure the asking price was high
– Lebron is still supportive of Westbrook and keen to make things work. He also still supports Pelinka
– Westbrook has been a complete pro in training camp and has done everything asked of him by Darvin Ham. His relationship with Ham has started much better than it did with Vogel
That Pacers owner is STILL dragging his heels over a rebuild. State of it
Would be so stupid of the Lakers to do, but I would love it
Honestly, that starting 5 would be pretty decent on both ends:
– Pat Bev
– Heild
– Lebron
– AD
– Turner
The top bench guys aren’t terrible either:
– Schroder
– Nunn
– Walker IV
– Bryant
I just don’t get the idea that we should be giving up multiple picks for an expiring contract, and a bad multi year contract
Russ pride gotta be shot
Julius Randle and Evan Fournier are right there.
There’s no way hield and turner are worth 2 unprotected first round picks lmao. Nobody else offering that
Man get it Fck it done or don’t
Been hearing about this for months
A whole lotta nothin’
Is there some way to get THT into this trade with Utah as a 3rd team? Potential Lakers trades without THT don’t feel right.
Why didn’t they do it? Fucking clowns running the organization. Fuck them picks!!
They’re gonna make the trade and Turner will get hurt and Hield will be the ultimate traffic cone. I’d honestly take my chances and hope Westbrook will buy in out of embarrassment.
Why would they not do this trade? If you’re goal is title contention then the draft picks shouldn’t matter. Hield and Turner would make the roster a lot better and it would make a lot more sense then Westbrook. My guess is that somebody doesn’t want the Westbrook trade to look like a mistake. They want to see what Ham can do different then Vogel.
Noooo give us the picks.
I want a Lakers vs Cleveland finals.
Why are we still talking about this? It’s dead let it be dead
Why is turner looked at as a negative asset? He’s one of the best defenders in the league. Also why does lakers even care about their draft picks when they are a major free agent destination?

Any sign of adversity this season and they are going to cave and send those 2 unprotected 1st round picks. Pacers are playing this right. Turner and Hield together might not be worth 2 unprotected 1st, but it won’t matter if/when the Lakers get desperate.
>the Lakers’ key decision-makers
with nearly every other team, they can just call them the ownership or the front office. but with the Lakers, they have to use a different description because of the opacity of the role of the Rambii.
How bout the buss kids “seriously and strongly consider” selling the team?
Why would you put this out right before our first preseason game lol
picks are overrated as fuck especially ones so far out when several things could change and effect their value
Haliburton and Mathurin are the focus of our team now and we need to do what we can to help them grow and improve and frankly what redditors and Lakers fans who don’t give a fuck about us fail to understand is that Turner and Hield are very nice pieces next to our core to help them succeed. Turner being around to help mentor and grow the likes of Jalen Smith and Isiah Jackson is a positive. having a shooter and Sacramento teammate in Hield around for Haliburton is a positive. Turner might win us some games, Hield is fairly neutral in that regard but both guys aren’t going to elevate us above our current station which means we’ll still be a lottery drafting team which is good for us plus we have several FRP in 2023 to use to move up if need be. We’re in a good situation. Russ and his crazy price tag provide nothing for us. Those picks have value for sure but don’t align with our core that we feel confident in both growing and adding to with the next draft. Hield as a vet and a shooter is fine to keep around through his contract (which decreases every year). Turner i hope we can re-sign if this next year goes well and he’s happy which he’ll finally have the center position to himself and a willing passer of a PG to get him looks – i imagine he’s looking forward to this year despite our wins column and if he’s not we can look to move him at the deadline to a team in contention, defensive anchors who can shoot are always going to be commodities. worst case scenario, Myles gets terribly hurt and if anyone is thinking that or wishing it well you’re just an asshole.
