Yuta and Sumner are definitely good options as 11th and 12th men off the bench and it’s a good thing that Duke gets another year in the G-League to further develop.
The Brooklyn Nets won this game soon as Ben Simmons walked out on the court, the score doesnt matter, moral victories are more important.
Regular season we’re def winning 53+ games
Didn’t watch the game, can someone fill me in on how the team looked?
A few overreactionary notes:
• Ben looked good. He’s very clearly rusty but the incredible passing and defense is all still there. Would’ve liked to see him used as a screener and in the P&R more.
• Kyries defense was nuts and he’s easily our best half court playmaker. He’s going to have an incredible season.
• The defensive sets are still extremely disappointing and they let the opposing team torch them wide open from 3 just like last season. Jacquee Vaughn should’ve been fired and we should’ve attempted to hire Frank Vogel to run the defense
• Claxton looked incredible and much improved. It would’ve been a huge mistake to trade him
• Royce is going to be battling Joe for that starting spot. Joe was clearly rusty but Royce came into the game and immediately made an impact on both ends of the floor. He was the most disciplined player on the court.
• Morris is a legit Stretch 5 that can stretch the floor and Yutas defensive presence was great. Both deserve guaranteed contracts. Sorry Cheese.
• Sharpe isn’t going to last as the backup Center. He looked rough to say the least
• Kess still played like a hesistant rookie. If he wants to last in the league he needs to improve on his confidence fast.
• Sumner was the highlight off the bench and can legitimately score and handle the ball. He might see real minutes in the rotation if he continues to play this way
• DDJ looked bad. It would’ve been a big mistake to give him a full contract and roster spot
This season will be interesting to say the least.
Damn we gotta wait until Thursday now?
The Nets young squad aren’t ready yet. Somner looks to be the backup PG. Yuta played well on both ends and should win that last spot. My takeaways.
Clax, O’Neale, and Sumner were impressive. Morris was decent too. But Harris…. Dude, not another season of this. Simmons… You haven’t played in ages, so you’ll get some slack for a bit. Igor… You look intimidating af.
Thank God this is preseason.
I think we have the right peices in terms of our players and their potential, but honestly our coaching just isn’t there. Espically Nash, I hope we can get Ime “think with my penis’ Udoka next season
3rd seed here we come
Yuta, Morris, Sumner are who impressed me. I’m sad that Sharpe and Kessler haven’t improved.
