This is how the Toronto raptors will get Shai Gilgeous-alexander. in this video I talk about the Toronto Raptors potentially being able to trade for a young and upcoming superstar in the NBA. Josh Lewenberg of TSN was the first to report on this but apparently, the Toronto Raptors are closely monitoring the situations in OKC in which they think that Shai Gilgeous- Alexander might get tired of playing and being the leader of a rebuilding team. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is 24 and is moving into a part of his career in which he is trying to win and cement his legacy. and The OKC thunder doesn’t have winning as a top priority right now, rather they are more concerned about tanking to acquire draft talent, something they’ve managed to do quite well if I d say some because they have managed to draft Josh Giddey and Chet Holmgren in the last two NBA draft. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander signed a 5-year 172 million dollar contract last year and stated that he is not interested in leaving the OKC thunder before his contract is up. But this could obviously change if the OKC continues to lose and Shai finds himself to be 27 and wasting away on a team that. isn’t concerned about winning. and if that happens then the Toronto raptors might be able to acquire him through trade. Now the logistics of getting him might be tricky because obviously, the OKC thunder will likely ask for Scottie Barnes to be in the trade talks but as we found out in the Kevin durant sweep-stakes, Scottie Barnes is strictly off limits when it comes to trades. the Toronto Raptors might never trade Scottie Barnes, and so that becomes tricky, but the Toronto raptors might be able to get away with trading him for draft capital if he tries to force his way out of OKC cause I think the Toronto Raptors would have the best adavntage in a trade war cause Toronto is his hometown and he has experience playing under Nick Nurse. so that sense of familiarity might be able to lure him to want to come to Toronto
