How the historic race to the bottom makes Russ contract more valuable

Last night between Vic and scoot is going to give rob a get out of jail free card regarding the Russ contract. I believe 14 teams in the nba is going to tank for the chance to be in bottom 4. The Russ contract with a buy out is a reset and a tank job all rolled in one. NBA fan bases are begging there teams to tank. The exec who trades for Russ is going to get praised. A week ago I would say he would have been ridiculed unless he fleeced the lakers. Rob waiting is looking like the right move. What y’all think? It’s been the right move imo. I like Turner but he’s not worth two firsts along with Hield

14 teams tanking is a huge exaggeration. It’s not like having a bad record guarantees you’ll get him. Bottom three teams share a 14% chance at the top pick.

If Im OKC, I use ALLLLLL that draft capital Ive acquired to try & get picks from those top 4 losers. Its probably not possible, but if you could get just 1 tankers pick & up your chances to 50% you get one of the top 2…. wow!

The fact Indy is playing hardball and not tanking is hilarious.. they could take a first and a few seconds and get in the tanning race but instead they are going to miss out on both top prospects

  5. As time goes on, our position on any potential Russ deal improves. The teams that want to move salary will be side eyeing each other. By the deadline, there could be some awesome deals available for cheap.

it looks like he’s in a Lakers jersey in the thumbnail 🥲

You have to remember the lakers have zero interest in taking back long term money, so to find expiring contracts that matches Russ’s seems highly unlikely.

Lottery odds are 14, 14, 14, 12.5, 10.5, 9, 7.50. Rob needs to identify the 7 weakest rosters and also look for rosters that are open to tanking who have solid players.

I think a trade during games 10-20 is most realistic unless Wemby does something crazy on Thursday.

Russ isn’t going to help a trash team tank tho. As bad as he is on a contender, that man is a great floor raiser

u can get them without this tho. For ex if thats the case the Knicks and Kings shoulda got something good but nothing.
