[Thompson] “On Friday morning, many watched the video and saw what happened for the first time, along with the rest of us. Multiple sources said their view of the situation is altered. That wasn’t the Draymond they knew. That was different than a chin-checking jab they presumed”

> It makes sense why the Warriors who spoke publicly on Thursday used words like trust and respect, and why they were so defensive about the idea of Poole receiving blame. And this was before they saw the video.

>One of the tricky elements to the fallout of this situation is few people saw Green actually hit Poole. They know he hit him. They saw the two get separated and Poole getting off the ground. But most were focused on the scrimmage before hearing the commotion. Nothing suggested violence was about to happen, so they weren’t paying attention. And it happened so fast.

>But on Friday morning, many watched the video and saw what happened for the first time, along with the rest of us. Multiple sources said their view of the situation is altered. Seeing Green walking up on Poole with obvious bad intentions. Seeing him respond to a baited shove from Poole with a ready swing. Seeing how much venom was behind the punch. That wasn’t the Draymond they knew. That was different than a chin-checking jab they presumed, the kind of measured punch you’d give your little brother.

>Yes, Poole is the little brother. He is brash. He is outspoken. He is confident. And he is good. But that’s a part of what they love about him. Even if he can be irritating sometimes, or talk above his britches, that’s kind of what little bros are supposed to do — which is why the Warriors have been adamant Poole did nothing wrong. They are not happy their little bro was violated.

    > That wasn’t the Draymond they knew.

Really? Because thats exactly the Draymond I know.

  4. johnfcknallen

Yeah cuz back then Draymond went for nuts and now he giving some sweet chin music

  5. Powerful_Bottle_8592

This guy has been kicking people in the nuts for years and “this isnt the Draymond you knew” ?

    I call cap

  6. BlackBullZWarrior

Didn’t he punch someone at some college party?

  7. Ok maybe the warriors did leak the video lol

  8. Gambit6x

    He assaulted a co-worker. Not a brother. Not a cousin. A co-worker. That’s video evidence of a crime.

He will be traded. They are not planning on keeping him at the cost he demands.

One of the differences here being that you could at least attribute some (still dumb antics) of his prior on court antics to heat of the moment basketball. This one is a huge cause several severe lines were crossed because not only was it a face ending capable punch that could have caused severe injury, but it was also against a fellow teammate and wasn’t even in the middle of basketball play. The physical result of this may be insignificant compared to what happened with Dillon Brooks but the psychological aspect is faaaaaaar worse in this case. Of course Warriors peeps would be shocked

  10. Part of the problem for Dray is that as far as I can see, you’d think, even if only for a little while, Jordan Poole will be the next face of the franchise barring some crazy trade or them striking lucky on another rookie. You simply cannot put your hands on the future king.

  11. Side note – Poole finished practice after that, didn’t he? I hope he was checked out because that looked like one of them concussion causing Roy Jones Leaping right hooks.

That video is a prime example of the toxic masculinity that permeates the NBA

  13. Lost_Habits

They knew but they didn’t know that we will know that they knew.

Do you guys think upper management saw the video prior to the leak? If so I wonder if they leaked it in order to minimize their upcoming season dilema with the contracts

  15. AmsterdamHooker

Green has always been a huge douche, even back in college.

  16. Alodylis

Man this would be a big L if Poole leaves them. Durant left to because of Dray or atleast he didn’t help. Idk man if anything Dray should give Poole one free shot that way they can squash beef 🥩.

  17. Clown_Shoe

Wait how many of y’all out there jabbing your little brothers in the face?

  18. hotpocketthrowaway

I love all the people in here acting like playing dirty is the exact same thing as sucker punching your teammate in practice. Not a single shred of nuance in here lmfao.

This is such a great point. I honestly don’t think there’s coming back from this. Green has lost the respect of many guys in that locker room.

  20. That’s the same Draymond we’ve always known.

  21. Glowwerms

If I was to make a list of 5 players in the league who would punch a teammate in practice draymond would probably be number one honestly, then Pat Bev at number 2

  22. misterpoopybutthole5

Wtf did Poole even do to inspire dray to get up in his grill? Just talk shit?

  23. streetchemist

It’s a bunch of BS that few people saw what happened.

  24. Venice_The_Menace

The narration of the situation in this article is so cringe

  25. I can’t wait till 5 years from now when we start hearing all the shit Warriors covered up for Green. We already know Kerr and Durant incidents were likely downplayed.

  26. xalchymia

Seems sleeping with someone inside an organization is worst than punching someone inside an organization.

  27. Draymond is a prick and needs to fuck off.

Poole has every right to force the W’s to get rid of him. An employer can’t force you to go back into an unsafe work environment with the dude who physically assaulted you.

  28. This got leaked because Draymond has made so many enemies that one saw a chance to hurt him and said, ya, I’ll risk it so people know the real him, the guy I know.

  29. mojo-jojo-was-framed

I just really hope it’s true Poole called him “triple single”

  30. Intelligent-Agent440

Hmm so even people in his own team didn’t know how bad it was until they saw the video… interesting…
