Draymond and The Golden State Warriors have made a mutual decision to have Dray stay away from the team for the time being. Considering what just happened, something like this needed to be done.
His apology to Poole means nothing. I heard it over & over OR every time when he abused someone. He is who he is & he NOT going to change. Warriors also put up with it for years & going to continue to do so. The internal positive chemistry is now gone with this incident (I hope not). I wish this will be Dray last season with Warriors. After that I hope he is taking a break & go to the rehab (anger management) & find a good therapist to help with his anger (mental issue). Otherwise, this abusive behavior will follow wherever he goes.
I keep reading and watching video commentary of this incident. Looking for someone who understands that it’s really Steph and Draymond and not just Steph. They are a duo. The reason Steph is able to play like he does is because of Draymond. Not taking away from the other players but Steph NEEDS Draymond. Everyone on that team knows that. Warriors need to extend Pooles contract like tomorrow..Pay him the rookie max.. If Poole doesn’t ask to leave the team and is fine with it, keep draymond and see how things go..if after a month or so things are not better then the warriors need to trade Draymond. The combo of Kuminga, Wiseman, Jamychael, by the time playoffs come will be more than capable to make up for draymond. Dray was wrong for what he did. His temper has caused the team chemistry to wobble several times over the years. Been disappointed in him when he’s done that. Nonetheless, he has been a favorite of mine because of his unquestioned dedication to his team and band of brothers, his unselfish leadership, his amazing IQ, and his contributions to our success ( second only to Steph). If you set aside “the punch’ for a second, I think Poole was incredibly disrespectful to Draymond in smugly taunting him. And then shoving him. That isn’t teamwork or brotherhood behavior in my book. Good video, unfortunately if I'm being honest any of the rookies coming in or free agents might need to reconsider going to the Warriors if Dray is still there next year. This year will be tough but I think they'll be alright in the long run. The less Dray plays, unfortunately Kuminga & Wiggins will need to step up fast.
