  1. Shaq and Penny turned me into a 🏀 and NBA fan. During school vacation I stayed up to early in the morning to watch the Magics at my grandparents.

  2. Yeah !! If he didn't get injured?! Stop it no way he was better than kobe Stop it 😤!! Yeah he was good but come today.

  3. Love Shaq…but I think he's incorrect about Penny. The Magic did NOT goto the finals in Penny's rookie year. In his rookie year, Penny & the Magic were swept by the Pacers in the first round. Penny struggled: had 1 good game, and 2 poor playoff games. Compared to Kobe: Kobe struggled in the playoffs as well, however Kobe wasn't a full-time starter til his 3rd season. Kobe's ppg stats through his first 4 seasons showed elite progress: 7.6, 15.4, 19.9, 22.5, Penny's was 16.0, 20.9, 21.7, and 20.5 before his first major injury. To me, it showed that his play plateau'd in his 4th season (he missed 23 games in reg season, and his fg% and assists went DOWN as well before first knee injury), while Kobe just kept on getting better (Kobe's 5th season: 28.5ppg, 5.9 reb, 5.0 ast). Penny didn't allow his knee to fully heal though, and that haunted him for the rest of his career. I will note that Penny WANTED to play (after knee injury, he played in the 96 olympics), and I can't fault him for that! Too many athletes would rather sit and collect a check. Now Penny was a beast of a player, could literally do it all, and for a tall (skinny) point guard, he was a monster at the post. He may have been the first "shoot-first" prominent point guard of the 90s (7.2 assists in 1992 was his career high). But Penny was more of a scorer vs. distributor (other 90s point guards Tim Hardaway, Kenny Anderson, Marbury and Kidd had way more assists in their first 4 seasons vs. Penny). I don't like the whole "what if" thing, because you can do that to ANY player that had a major injury (remember Greg Oden? Grant Hill? Eddy Curry? Bobby Hurley? Sam Bowie?). Heck, even Larry Bird played his entire HOF career with a bent right index finger! How's that for a "what if"? :p

  4. I REALLY liked Penny back in his early years. He was supposed to be the next Magic.
What lead him to myself was Shaq. I loved Shaq. Even rocked a LSU hat back in my middle school years & was PISSED when he didn't make the Dream Team. …

Anyhow, Penny was smooth. So natural with his movement with the ball. Calm looking, yet nasty as hell.

We got ROBBED as basketball fans, & I'm saying before the injuries. Shaq leaving that team just didn't feel right & changed a lot of things. Changed the way I viewed Shaq & even the NBA as a whole.

It didn't feel right or settle well. It's hard to articulate exactly what I mean by that. … League lost a little of its innocence in a way. It's overall shine or character. … That's the best I got on it right now. … Bet a lot of people who watched the NBA back then & within my age range would know what I mean (was born in 1978).

    – Thanks for another fine upload my man 🙏👍😃. … Be well & best wishes

  5. Penny was good, but better than it be? That's rediculous. If penny hadn't gotten injured early in his career he would be a hall of famer but in no way was he better than kobe.

  6. Beyond being a great Player / Athlete, I think Penny was a great person, I truly hope Penny have taken the retirement to positive place, for me it was extremely sad for him

  7. Penny Hardaway! The legend! I remember that many times, I'd rock my Penny Hardaway jersey (I had the black one) and hoop it up! Penny is my favorite pg of the 90s! If it wasn't for his injuries, we'd be talking about one of the GOATS, and EASILY a first-ballot HOFer! Together, with Grant Hill, they're the biggest "what ifs" of the 90s, but at least Grant Hill bounced back at all star level! But, anyways, I had a wonderful adolescence, and Penny was a part of it! Dear Penny, if you're reading this, thanks for the memories, and God bless you!

  8. I bought 2 authentic NBA jerseys as a teen in mid 1990's. Penny Hardaway Orlando magic and Dennis "The worm" Rodman bulls jersey. Still have Penny's only wore it a few times then hung it up in a bag.

  9. Penny is top 3 “what if’s” If Shaq and Penny stayed together and were healthy I don’t believe the Bulls would of 3peat the second time. Penny was an absolute dog. Versatile! The only 2 “What if” I’d put before him is TMac and Grant Hill. But man watching him hoop live was a privilege.

  10. Grant Hill and Penny Hardaway are the two biggest "what-ifs" players in NBA history. Had either of them not been plagued with injuries things would've been a lot different!

  11. Penny was definately my favourite player at one stage.
As Shaq said, he CAME IN at that level..amazing player.

  12. Saying penny was kobe is not the right comparison. Penny was more like leChina before leChina. Penny did not play like kobe. Penny was more of a point, and Kobe was more of a scorer.

  13. On any other team, Penny would have been 'The Man', but he didn't linger in Shaq's shadow, he danced through it and put himself on display by dominating his opponent nightly. He was just getting started when injuries began their attack on his potential legacy. He was a joy to watch at his peak and will always be top 5 to me.

  14. I saw Penny up there with Jordon for a bit. I think MJ knew that too. What if for Penny and Grant Hill.
