This storyline of Gelo reminds me of Tebow with the Broncos.
John Elway was versus the whole city of Denver every single week that Tebow didn't start… and then Kyle Orton got injured and the franchise didn't have another choice.
The sport is different but when you have a player that isn't ready on paper but also a fan favorite that everybody is clamoring for, it's really hard to navigate those avenues politically without hearing backlash from the fanbase.
Tebow's gravity was huge because of his success at Florida but that only affected the franchise he directly got transferred too.
