You might call it a meaningless game but as a hornets fan, our team has way worse problems right now to address than pleasing y'all Gelo fanboys. If I was Gelo and the "sniper" y'all claim, id have smoked my brother off in that 3pt contest and let my actions and determination get me that roster spot and playing time. Guaranteed if hed have went out there and blew up in that 3pt contest Clifford would have had more pressure from our fanbase to play him.

They don't need a sniper when they have Hayward. Hayward is there 3 point man, steals the ball, pull up jumpers, etc. If Gelo wants to play, he has to get like Hayward and do more. Not only that, Gelo hasn't proved yet his 3 point abilities in the NBA, not the G, But the NBA.
76ers are able to see Gelo's shooting abilities from Summer League, Drew, and G League as well as all the other places he's played. If they wanted him (or needed him) they would've been got him. His performance this preseason actually most likely hurt his chances of another team picking him up since he hasn't shown anything
I've said it before and I'll say it again, Gelo needs about 1-2 more years in the G putting up actual numbers and then going back and forth between the G and the NBA team in a season before getting a secured contract. He has work to do.

The Gelo fans are so delusional. They keep making excuses for his awful playing skills. He doesn’t get enough minutes, they don’t play him with his brother. Jeez, they been making excuses for this kid for a long time. At this point I think they just want to see him in the NBA because they keep fantasizing about seeing 3 Ball brothers in the NBA. Whether or not Gelo gets that 2-way is going to depend on whether or not the Charlotte Hornets decide to tank this season. Personally, I think they should tank, because it looks like they really suck without Miles Bridges.
If they decide to tank, I see no harm in signing Gelo to that two-way. But if they are actually trying to make the play-in again, they need to find better role players 'cause this 'aint it. 🏀
Liangelo probably will not become a 2-way player. The Hornets signed four players to Exhibit 10s. They only signed Ball and Smith Jr. to Exhibut 9s. Exhibit 10s are 2-way convertible with a guarantee of $50,000 if the player is waived and spends some time in the G-League. The Exhibit 9 is a limited liability contract with no 2-way convertibilty or guaranteed minimum. However, the Exhibit 9 is customizable. The Hornets gave Smith $3M and Ball $1M. If the Hornets wanted to send Gelo back to the G-league they would have just put Gelo on an Exhibit 10. However, they didn't do that. They put Gelo on an Exhibit 9 and gave him $1M guarantee. They're not going to work with Gelo for a couple of weeks, cut him and them let him walk away with $1M. They're going to keep him around because they invested the money in him, but they didn't invest the money in the 4 Exhibit 10 players.
I mean just think about the math. The average G-league player makes $35K-$37K. The average 2-way player makes $400K-$450K. They are not going to overpay Ball in the G-League or just let him walk away $1M. They're going to keep him in the association. They're probably going to sign him to the Hornets final roaster and put him at the end of the bench. Then when a couple starters get injured, they're going to let him play, he's going to play with Lamelo (the two will go crazy), and that will become the new rotation.
That's my theory anyway. Anything can happen with the Hornets.
