The Pistons can get a very valuable player around the 7th pick. A nice stretch 4. The Pistons should play as hard as they can until the trade deadline and see where they are at. Victor is a tremendous prospect, but he is also a perfect fit for the Pistons… at the 4!
What gets crazy is if the Pistons get the 2nd pick, they have to draft Scoot… so what happens to Ivey?

Trying to tank? No probably not, I don't think that's Weaver or Casey's intentions. I mean if the season is trending in that direction where it doesn't seem that Stew is working out at the 4 or 5, and Saddiq doesn't take a jump, then we won't need to tank. I think the focus should continue on developing our young players (Mainly Ivey/Cade/Duren), because a top lottery pick doesn't necessarily guarantee anything. And I also don't want to discourage Ivey or Cade by saying "we're tanking". I want them to want to win and keep growing.
With that being said, I like the top 10 draft pick prospects. Any of those players in the top 10 would be great for this team. Scoot and Victor are must drafts. There are a lot of solid guards and wings in this draft lottery. And a lot of those players are good shooters as well (big need for us).
I don't think Cade/Saddiq/Ivey are permanently locked at PG/SG/SF. If we get Scoot or another guard, you could see Cade slide to SF and Saddiq to PF. We have an extremely flexible roster, and Weaver has architecturally made it that way.
There are 11 prospects between 6'5" and 6'9" projected in the 2023 lottery.

Lakers had two players in the top 20 and missed the playoffs, one being arguably the GOAT, golden state has 1 player ranked 7 and has a ton of rings. Pistons getting Victor would be amazing but the best TEAMS win chips, not the best players. GO PISTONS!

The Pistons have enough serviceable players, cap space, and trade assets to start trying to win. They can fill in the gaps with trades and free agents. One more year and guys like Bey, Hayes, and Stew's contracts will be up.
What I would trade Cade in a heartbeat for better future. Or present. I’ll take Paulo. Mobley. Etc.
