[Isaac Okoro](https://enjoybasketball.beehiiv.com/p/players-crossroads)
After the Donovan Mitchell trade, the Cavaliers have an amazing point guard, shooting guard, power forward, and center, but a gaping hole at the small forward position. When the Cavs drafted Isaac Okoro with the 5th overall pick just two years ago, they knew he had the build to be a great defender However, he lacked shooting touch, and two years later, little has changed. Because of his defense, the starting spot could still be his, and he could be a valuable piece for a very competitive Cleveland team. On the other hand, if he can’t provide offensively, this season could condemn him to a bench role for the foreseeable future.
(This is not a slight on Isaac, and we understand that one season isn’t the end-all-be-all, just observing that his situation this season indicates a lot about the player he is and could become)

I mean he’s easily the best perimeter defender and has the athleticism to guard any type of 1-3. That’s more valuable than a spot up 3 in this lineup imo.
I’d go look at those shooting splits and he looks comfortable so far in preseason. I think Okoro’s season last year is being minimized and a lot is being forgot. He was a good defender last year, all of his percentages were up and we statically were better with him on the floor. That was after a brutal shooting start after a lingering hamstring issue and a few other weird injuries/time out. Also, check out Okoro highlights, he has more wow plays from an athletic and just thinking the game stand point than most people think.
He’s def the player I almost have my eyes on the most in these first few games. I believe in him and really want the kid to succeed. His energy is another underrated benefit to the team that doesn’t necessarily show up on the stats sheet. His energy off a great offensive play lights everyone up. Keeping energy up like that in a game is huge.
