The Houston Rockets are planning to waive center Derrick Favors, sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium. Rockets needed to make a roster cut to reach 15 guaranteed spots.

I’ve been wanting a 3rd big all offseason, but I doubt they use the 15th spot on anyone. The only reason they did last year was because gp2 blew everyone away
I’ve been suggesting him for months because I knew OKC was going to buy him out. If we hadn’t gotten Iguodala, he would have been a great vet presence on the bench. But I don’t see the FO spending all that money for him.

nah, we’re set with JMG/Wise off the bench. if we were to sign someone to that 15th spot it should be a wing/forward IMO

Nah considering we won the championship with 12.5 players last year and adding him would cost 13M in payroll that certainly are earmarked for Poole. That spot will stay open for the money of it… it also allows them to make a one for two trade if anyone demanded it down the line… which is unlikely but not impossible. I do like favors though.
Would love to see him on the Dubs and have been saying so for a while. The problem is his $10 million salary. If it was a buyout and we could maybe get him at the vet minimum, that would be one thing. But to take him off waivers would cost us something like $70 million a year. Let’s see what happens.
