[Slater] The four-year extension the Warriors are finalizing with Jordan Poole is worth $123 million guaranteed, per sources, with incentives (likely/unlikely) that can stretch it to the $140 million range over life of the contract

$30.75 million/year
people overreact, i think 140 guaranteed isn’t even atrocious. this is a good deal for golden state
young player proving himself in the playoffs is getting 30 mil
Worth every penny
Only $3 million more than Tyler Herro (in terms of guaranteed money only)
Guaranteed not to get punched in the face again.
That’s a wonderful contract and they simply had to pay him
There are multiple teams with cap space next off-season who would give him that offer sheet without thinking twice
Sounds like a good deal to me, dude is their future post steph
Poole new Twitter handle gonna be moneygreen123mil
The front office was happy to see the issue of extending poole over draymond resolved all by itself.
There’s no way they can extend Dray now or possibly even klay with Wiggins extension looming too unless they take paycuts
Lmao. People so focus on dunking on the Warriors for possibly overpaying that they’re still flooding Woj post instead of reading this contract breakdown. 😂
He’s worth it. I’m looking forward to watching his career in a Warriors uniform.
What a steal! This is gonna look like huge discount in a year.
That wholesome moment between Wiggins and Poole post championship came true:

Happy for him!
Orlando would have made them match something simliar anyway
4/123 makes much more sense than 4/140. Assuming the incentives are All-star, All NBA, champions etc.
4/140 was very close to the 5th year max of 4/153.
Can we talk about how useless the (likely/unlikely) is?
Tyler Herro and Jordan Poole make more per year than Jayson Tatum. What the fuck
Warriors ownership might not even be worried about an absolutely insane luxury cap figure. The organization has an opportunity to expand massively in foreign markets. The more they dominate, and the longer their reign goes, the greater their global recognition. As the sport grows internationally, being the foremost brand associated with it is just the price of doing business
It’s important to consider that the Warriors are up against the cap regardless. Holding onto the talent they have is extremely expensive, but if you let those guys go, there’s not much wiggle room to add more talent (especially young guys). You also can’t trade a contract you don’t own
Extra 17mill if he gets defensive player of the year.
was waiting on this. I knew there was no way it’s 140 guaranteed.
I don’t think it’s a bad deal if he’s actually the player we saw last year. We’ve seen plenty of guys go on runs then regress, so this might one of biggest contracts we’ve seen for such a limited resume (limited in regards to time). Giving a guy $140M two years out from the G-League and a very average first NBA year is definitely a bit risky.
