Russ is Allan Iverson revisited, he's not going to buy into that., nope you gotta move him. Lakers aren't going to get much in return there's no demand. I feel for Russ. He still has the energy, drive, expectations, but he’s lost his touch and a bit of athleticism. It has to be difficult to achieve great things and just a few years later be told you’re not what you used to be, especially when you’re only 33. He feels like he still has the ability to be great, but everyone is telling him he’s not. And his numbers tell him he’s not. In comes Patrick Beverly. Pat Bev gets paychecks to play hard and annoy other teams with defense and psychological warfare. He has bothered Westbrook for years. They both have traded insults. Now the Lakers expect all the built up competitive hate magically dissipate and for them to coexist. It’s just not going to happen. When they chose to add Beverly, they chose to lose Westbrook. People will comment, “be professional, ego, blah blah blah, but these are human beings that battled each other and did so fueled by loathing the other. Bev taking control calling huddles isn’t going to vibe with Russ ever. Recipe for disaster. Not saying Russ isn’t at fault, just recognizes the struggle of losing yourself and being in a work environment that you feel you can’t win in, magnified by millions watching and his unbreakable pride
They have no team chemistry and they turn the ball over way to much will take months for them to be elite but Russ might be gone before then
