[McMenamin] Apart from missing more games that he played in for the Lakers the last two seasons, there was a sentiment within the team’s front office last season that Davis didn’t look like the franchise player they thought they had coming off the 2020 championship, sources said.

    More:

    > The Lakers engaged in trade talks with the Utah Jazz, Indiana Pacers and Brooklyn Nets, sources said, and the conversations often hit a similar snag. Several teams that the Lakers engaged with insisted on L.A. including both of their future first-rounders in a deal; the Lakers were determined to trade only one of the two unless the package would return a can’t-miss-talent such as Donovan Mitchell or Kyrie Irving.

    > The Lakers originally planned to have found a trade partner for Westbrook before signing Schroder, sources said. But after the point guard’s strong showing for Germany in the FIBA EuroBasket tournament generated interest around the league, L.A. signed him before another team could.

    > L.A. ranked 22nd in the league in 3-point percentage last season and then opened the preseason by shooting 58-for-198 (29.3%) from deep through the first five games.

Yea no shit. Bro has everything to prove this year

Good insight into their thinking though. Sounds a lot like they’re anticipating an inevitable rebuild in 2 years

Which fully justifies why they’re not sold going all in this season is worth it, let alone gets them to the promise land.

First they piled the shit and blamed it on Vogel, then on AD?

Do they just play the scapegoat game everytime to throw someone under the bus to cover their ass just to make an excuse for their ignorance?

It was the FO’s decision to trade for Russ, it was the FO who decided to take apart a championship level defense, it was the FO licking Rambis’s ass every game

They surround AD with G league level players with shitty and nonexistent defense and expect AD to dominate like Giannis?

Grow the fuck up and own the responsibility for your shit. You are an adult not a kindergarten kid.

  5. It’s not just the injury concern with AD but his lack of passing ability as well.

You can’t build a team around someone who can’t facilitate the offense.

This year is everything. If AD stays healthy, and can semi-replicate his 2020 play I think they’ll build around him

When Davis plays he looks amazing. But he’s beyond fragile and makes watching him play unnerving because of that very fragility.

This team needs all three 40 million dollar contracts to play and fill in minutes between the starters and bench because that’s all our depth.

Hoping we can bring that energy from the first preseason game into opening night

In his preseason games he has looked dominant and unguardable. Solid to great on defense. His shot looks to be coming back. All he needs is to stay healthy, all this other speculation is silly

  9. There’s something about the way he plays that he’s always falling and tumbling about. Even in 2k they’ve managed to recreate that. He needs to learn how to control his body better.

He looked great during preseason but the issue with AD and Bron is that there injury prone asf. Even Bron is a lot less durable than yrs past. Lowkey might have to do with added mileage.
