Jeez, KPJ is putting a lot of trust in the organization here taking on all the risk. I’m guessing the offered him a fully guaranteed deal significantly lower than 20/year that made the risk worthwhile.
What I’m reading from this is KPJ really wants to stay. I wonder how much of that is there may not have been a market for him elsewhere.

I think it also shows a level of commitment and maturity for KPJ to agree to a deal that basically says we’ll pay you as long as you’re focused.
He could have potentially gotten a better deal on the open market (of guaranteed money at least) but decided to commit to the organization that started investing in him when his stock was low and has stuck with him through an issue or two.
