this could age great or badly 😭 glad we locked him up tho
Finally got that out of the way, happy to have our boy locked up for the future
Glad we got it done. He’s about to have a breakout season!!
W Contract, happy for Dre
SCHLENK WITH THE BUZZER BEATING GAME WINNER (potentially if he stays healthy)
how we feeling hawks fans?
I can’t believe /u/deegzx would lie to me about this.
Oh no Schlenk bby what is you doing? Hugeeeeeeee overpay.
Im glad Dre wont have to press and can just play knowing we’re invested in him.
I think this will be a great team deal once he takes that next step this season. I feel like he is in that Mykal Bridges tier currently but his ceiling is higher with his potential ability to put the ball on the floor and create his own more.
Also depends on if he stays healthy too

Jordan Poole signed for 4/140. Tyler Herro signed for 4/120. Jalen Brunson signed for 4/104.
I’d do Hunter on a 4/95 based off of potential alone, not to mention his flashes seen against the Heat and this preseason.
This is team friendly af for a former #4 overall pick imo. If his injury concerns subside, it’s an even bigger W.
Absolute worst case scenario: We have an injury prone, 3&D role player on a somewhat bad contract. 3&D players are valuable to every team and will almost always garner interest, Hunter would still be fairly easy to move.
Even then, it doesn’t seem bad compared to contracts like Horford, Hayward, MPJ, Porzingis, Draymond, and Randle who are all making more. And players like Conley, Brogdon, Hield, THJ, Bojan, Gordon, etc. who are all in the same ballpark as Hunter.
Think the deal is fine. Cap is going up in a couple years. Protects against him having a proper healthy, breakout season and him getting a max offer sheet. Not risk free given his injury history, but we clearly like him. So it’s not surprising to see us take that chance here.
We have flexible money, so this doesn’t hamstring us in that way either. The only way it really goes tits up is if he is just incapable of playing.

Could this be a bad deal if he doesn’t live up to his talent? Yes, but that’s true of every young prospect.
I for one AM FUCKING PUMPED, I fucking love our team, thank fuck we didn’t let Hunter walk when we didn’t need to, I really hope he lives up to his expectations.
Not honna lie, i think this might be a good deal. I hope his health stays good and makes me right but he was looking hungry in the preseason. If we are gonna perform we are going to needs guys like him bought in.
I was literally reading the other thread about this when he got signed ahaha.
4 yr 90 M, 5M in incentives
Ok, that’s totally fine with me. Isn’t this essentially what we offered to Collins the first time?
Health is the 🔑
LFG I think this a big W. If DeAndre can play the way he did in the summer league and continue to improve, I think it’s worth it. People like Brunson and Hero are set to make more so I think it’s reasonable given the market. Also a thing to note is that the salary cap is expected to go up and starters will likely be making 20+ million a year which is in-line with the contract
This is only $25M more than the 4 years contract we gave Bazemore in 2016.
I love the deal. Didn’t overpay at all for a player who still has a lot prove.
This can be a good deal and I’m glad we locked up Dre, but I also lowkey wish he went into RFA just to see what would’ve happened yk
