The bears traded a guy in hopes to draft a guy that's as good as the guy just let go. I know they are tanking but trading great 25 year olds is a poor way to build a culture or a team. Like "hey I know you've played great your whole contact, now go play somewhere else. "

We should of gotten a 1st rounder because it's basically a 3rd rounder with the record the Ravens are going to have!
all of these defensive moves now open up the possibility to NOT use our 1st Rounder on a WR(even tho thats what we NEED THE MOST) and I can see it already. These guys just don't fucking get it. Don't make a hole on the team where there isn't one. Tag him if you need to then replace him in the 2024 draft if he still wont do an extension. But you don't create more holes on the team until AFTER we've plugged the biggest holes we have aka our #32 ranked receiving core and Top 5 worst O-Line.
We aren't playing to win, we're playing to draft and make trades. Hahaha. When you adopt this strategy, it sticks, and it's stuck for the Bears! We're just rebuilding, we'll get it next year. We got plenty of draft picks and cap! Then it will be, oh the team is young! It's okay for them to be terrible. We already have that now. Roquan is 25 and they traded him. Good luck guys. Gonna trade away all the players and have nothing but hope.
Roquan was not DISAPPOINTING at all!!! He's a top rated middle linebacker that our stupid GM traded for a 2nd rounder! You are not guaranteed, even if you do use a first round pick to get anyone at his caliber! We got robbed again by this cheap new management!!!! I believe these are a couple ego maniacs!!! GM & Head coach! They don't care about our traditions or winning!!! They are delusional to think they can build a winning team without veterans!!!!!
TBH off the ball LBs are one of the least valuable defensive positions. The most valuable are the Edge rushers(OLB/DE) and the Defensive Backs. Its hard to justify paying a off the ball LB 20 mil a year because if you have really good edge rushers, and 4 good-great DBs, you can get away with having an average off the ball LB.
Roquan is a fool for representing himself. Good player dug his own grave, was given great offer, then publicly chastised Gm requested a trade and got it. He will not get resigned by Baltimore. Hope he gets an agent and shuts up.

Time will tell. If the draft picks materialize then it will all be great. If Poles fails in draft this strategy will badly backfire. The obvious conclusion was that the Bears management felt it was not going to be able to come to terms with Roquan and it was best to trade him now while they could still get something for him. That being said the rest of this season will be difficult to watch. I hope Justin Fields has a cape with a big S on it because it is him against the world.
He is a great player BUT dude is not right in the head! He will loose it and fade out within 2-3 years for sure!

Just proves once again the Bears ownership is just CHEAP; saying you were offered a fair contract and actually getting a fair contract is too different things. You let another LB from GA to the Rams because you didn’t want to give the fifth year option.

We are now set back even further (probaly 3to 5 yrs) waiting to see if we can get good or better talent . We also now reduced any good veteran leadership that was still in there prime(Roquan was that dude) .Keep in mind we have no clue if this coaching regime actually can develop talent! This franchise also is the very same one that didn't pay Urlacher & treated him like dirt after all he gave on the field ,if that doesn't do it remember how they almost let Forte walk cause they didn't wanna pay him !!
bears fans are deluding themselves if they think the ownership is going to let Poles spend all the money he's saving them in salries. The Bears are historically and notoriously cheap. This is the team that forced walter Payton to hold out and traded wilbur Marshall.

Good trade. Roquan wanted too much and wouldn’t have signed with us at the end of the year. That means we’d franchise tag him for more than he’s worth. Bears got the picks and didn’t need to spend a crazy amount for a position that’s quickly losing value. Liked him on the field, but he’s 100% about money. He held out his rookie season, too.
If they don't want to throw a lot of money at him because they think the players will be over the hill by time they are good, fine and it also is not my guy. The 3rd, 4th round picks when you compare there is over a 90% chance the guys they get will never be better and probably will no longer be starters when these guys retire. A 2nd round pick for a 4th years 1st rounder you don't want to pay is good and the timing will not get better than now. Their defense will be very bad, coaches and GMs get fired if it gets Texans for the next 2 years.
I don't understand why everybody is hung up on wanting so many pics and High pics it doesn't mean every body that comes out of college is going to be a superstar right away or even down the road why would you purposely want to suck one year just to get more pics the next year why even show up this season then I don't like the trade he could have at least been on this team to Mentor the younger guys he was a good leader so what he wanted more money who doesn't
I'm shocked about losing Roquan but as it's played out we all knew that GM Poles was going to build a foundation his way with his players. I think our future is very bright.
