What do you expect to happen with Christian Wood: Gain More Trust/Time, Get Traded, Stay the Same?
Welp, as an outsider, I'll tell you this. Either the coaching staff figures this out, trusts him and gets him much more involved – or you all gonna be real disappointed with how things go this season. CWood is good enough to be Luka's clear Number 2 on a team that competes in the West all the way to the end, OR you have NOTHING ELSE that fills that description. I'm pulling for you, fans. Good luck.
What Kidd didn't address in that post game comment about "you didn't ask the question I was waiting for" is this – it was Wood who was in there when Mavs extended the lead up to 16 and he WASN'T in there for that disastrous OT. Explain how "it didn't work" in light of that, Jason.

I am surprised that Coach Kidd said those comments about Wood. Tsk tsk, early in the season. I hope they arrest this exchange. Wood has the skills to be used more.
Wood in my opinion needs more playing time over finny Smith he gets double digets on rebounds and has the low post threat look at Smiths and Bullocks production numbers not good I would trade both of them for a solid all star player

Here is the thing… I liked the comment Kidd made.
Cause now one of 2 things will happen.
1st Wood is a complete pro and wants to win and earn the trust. Then great! He will work his ass off, try to get reps in with Luka in training, will ask the coaches for help. Just taking that criticism to heart and try to earn the trust.
2nd Wood is a Diva who doesnt care about the team… thats what people said about him on the Rockets. So he is salty, doesnt try to win, just to get his stats. You know, behave like an immature child because someone with more authority criticised him.
This was the exact right time to say something like this. This is the NBA, Dallas wants to compete for a championship and we have no time to pamper someone. Can he do his job as good as possible and give it 100% no matter if he starts or finishes games? If so, he will earn more touches and will finish games when the season goes on. If not… well then it was a nice try. He didnt cost us much and maybe we can package him for another player at the deadline… Did people already forget that Kidd also criticised Luka several times last season? He could take it. Can Wood? Thats the question!
You have two options. More expensive, that is, to buy good players and cheaper to buy young, solid rotation players and hope that they will develop into very good players, stars.
The advantage of the second option is that it is cheap, but it takes longer, as the process takes some time, if of course, it ends positively.

Cubn's desire is to spend low and to gain all. Of course, this optimistic scenario comes true fast if all players play at their 110% every night and in the end everything depends on Luka Doncic who physically and mentally will not last long, which is logical.
The goals should be conditioned by the quality of the team. Dallas has a very average team that can surprise, but maybe once every 10, 15 years. It's a Cuban decision. 🙂
