@Denver Nuggets

[Mares] “You gave away Bol for nothing. Nurk for nothing. Vanderbilt for nothing. Beasley is playing heavy minutes on a winning team. All of those guys were given away at under market value”.

He continues:

“And Zeke Nnaji is not in the rotation on a team with a horrendous bench. If the Nuggets traded him today, they would get nothing.

I’m not trying to be insinduary, but there is a pattern and it’s trend worth noting”.

This comes is larger convo about how Bol is averaging 11 and 7 on 65% from the field while being 3rd in the entire NBA in blocks and leading the Magic in +/- at a +12.

He also notes that he was a Bol doubter and him to realize that a guy not being given a chance by Malone isn’t indicative of whether a player should be written off.

Interestingly, he didn’t mention Hart. Perhaps, because he spent ample time bringing up that last year.

    It’s not even that we gave them away, but in cases like Bol, Vando, or Nnaji we dont even use the G-league to develop them. Bol was on a two way at one point but never really played in the G-league. We could do the same with Nnaji and even assign Peyton Watson there to develop some but we don’t use it for some reason.

    If only there was context to these trades, and Nuggets FO could tap into that sweet sweet hindsight everyone else can.

    I also can’t tell if this Bol Bol gripe is more hilarious than calling Utah Jazz a “winning team”.

    Bol Bol is also a starter for the magic now. He’s not getting these stats on the nuggets at 12 mpg off the bench

    What exactly was the “market value” on Bol and Vando at the time they were traded lol. You got fine value out of Malik right before he went insane. And the Nurkic situation was due to him being a locker room issue.

    So…?
