behind paywall, but the most important quote of the article:

    >I wasn’t able to reach Carr in time for this story, but I’m told the rotation wasn’t his idea. Carr, 74, has been the team’s main analyst since 2006-07, first with Fred McLeod and now with John Michael, but he has shared color duties in the past with Daugherty, Matt Guokas, Mark Price and Scott Williams. One source called the three-man rotation “a team approach and a refreshed approach to our lineup. These guys all have varying perspectives and add unique insight to our broadcast.”

It wasn’t Carrs’ idea and it seems like Bally sports is trying to remove/phase out all the older folks from the broadcast.

Bally’s OH is in the BP / Huntington Tower on public square.

Would be a shame if fans called their office all day and night.

Mike is a national guy. He plays the both sides and is just so fucking boring. All the Donovan “Throws the Hammer down” we are missing rn.

  4. Mike would be fine if we had a guy like Fred on play by play still. John Michael needs to get a few new catch phrases or something. His commentary is kinda stale tbh.

Question, who does the broadcast on the radio for WTAM 1100? That’s how I listen to the games and I always enjoy the broadcast.

My take is that we shouldn’t stop raising a fuss about out displeasure or Bally will think they had a good idea. AC or we riot!!! Disclaimer: I’m not trying to insight a riot/violence mods, it’s just a expression.

  7. This is rediculous. Austin Carr is one of the most likeable announcers out there! He has so many catch phrases I can’t even count, and actually provides some life and humor into the broadcast. Throwing the hammer down is pure gold and he’s way better than the alternatives.

Maaaaan, I was so excited to be able to watch Cavs games without any pop up ads, but this garbage makes feel like Bally’s doesn’t understand what the fans want and shouldn’t get my money.

We regularly have fans of other teams stop by our sub to say how much they enjoy listening to AC. Bally’s needs to get that weak stuff outta here.

  9. I hope Bally Sports dies a horrible burning fireball of fury.

I guess this is an unpopular opinion. I love Austin Carr, but he’s kind of more caricature than substance at this point. If you remove your Cavs fandom and think from the perspective of a neutral fan tuning in, what would you think of Carr?

  11. If they really want to phase out the older hosts that’s fine. But at least get actual “younger” talent on the color. And also someone that brings some energy
