Luka needs to take some more pride in his defense. This thread compiling his 1st quarter defensive lowlights is embarrassing.
I hate to be the one, but this needs to be pointed out.
Luka was HORRENDOUS on D in that 1st Q and was a (maybe the main) reason Kidd went to zone.

He has to shuffle his feet back when the defender is waaay further away from him.
Give the defender space, contest with length. If he makes it, fine, it is still a tougher shot than a layup.
Also, stop with these slow jump hops. They put you out of position and you are vulnerable to changes of direction.
Luka has to focus on making smaller dudes who are way quicker than him take contested threes against him.
Also, that stance with hands ridiculously close to his body does not give you balance. He has large wing span, use it.
Yikes. That’s not mvp caliber. We ask too much of him on the offensive end tho.
He was even worse after he got his 3rd foul, then he he was better when we started playing zone.
He was ok in the 4th quarter, when he actually tried.
I’d understand if these sequences were from the 3rd/4th quarter since he usually shoulders are offense. But man, Luka can’t give this kinda effort on the FIRST QUARTER.
Not sure why the potential MVP gets more criticism on this sub than THJ does on a nightly basis. Help me understand.
I think Luka will go down as one of the greatest offensive players and shot creators of all time but you really have to play both sides to be anywhere near GOAT conversations
His defense got a lot better over the course of the season last year, especially when it came to cutting off drives. I bet Kidd and Sweeney are harping on him about this stuff.
He needs to pick it up, but I’m not personally going to hit the panic button until he the middle/end of this month.
