Only Rookie I can think of is Chuck Person. Chuck Person put Indiana on the map back in the day in particular his 5 game playoff series with Boston and his battle with Larry Bird. Person was scoring 39 points in a couple of those playoff games but he began the culture of Indiana always making the playoffs. The team ended up trading him and giving the keys to Reggie but Chuck Person was rookie of the year and put Pacers on the map.
Person averaged 19 points and almost 9 rebounds as a rookie. I just looked.

The fact you talk more about what one guys mouth more than his play, tells you all you need to know, or should anyway. It's a disservice to guys like Jalen Smith who speaks with his game but never gets soundbites on shows like this. These young men maybe professional, but they're human too. Myles is a distraction because we allow it every year. Media shouldn't shrug it off casually then ignore other contributions being made by guys showing leadership skills just working hard like Jalen. I'm not impressed with Turner or way this podcast has handled it.
As an avid colts and pacers fan I can explain why there was optimism for the Colts and not the Pacers. In the time period you're referring to, the Colts were good enough to win a Super Bowl. With Andrew Luck anything was possible, hence the optimism. The pacers on the other hand, had no chance whatsoever of winning a championship. Firmly in the middle of the super team age, there is absolutely no chance that a victor oladipo led team is going to win it all.
sure would be nice to get a new victor next year
