“Adam Silver has been completely absent” – Brian Windhorst

[From his podcast](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZUNq2E-vOCo&t=955s)

Referencing the things happening around the league with Kyrie and Draymond/Poole being unaddressed by the league.

He feels teams are giving no punishments and Silver is absent/supporting it.

Your thoughts on Silvers presence recently?

I’ll admit it: I have literally no clue where Adam Silver is right now.

  2. AMBROOOSIUS

Silver does the bidding of the owners. He’s there to protect their financial interests. If he’s silent, it’s because he’s instructed to be.

  3. ZandrickEllison

Bad timing. It’s the annual lizard people who control the world convention. /s

  4. kasaan110

Why does the media think Adam is supposed to get involved with everything.

  5. Very strange, considering that lizards don’t typically hibernate until it gets colder

  6. hooskies

He’s only been absent from the Kyrie thing IMO. Warriors and Celtics drama should’ve been handled by the team…and it’s too early to say with the Primo situation

  7. atlfirsttimer

    Yeah should have suspended Draymond.

That said, could the League actually suspend Kyrie or just fine him per cba?

  8. ToronoRapture

Pretty sure Silver said recently he’s going to sit down and talk with Kyrie.

I imagine he’s been monitoring the situation and seeing what the Nets were going to do first. No doubt he has been in contact with their FO.

Adam Silver is also Jewish so I doubt he supports Kyrie.

  9. MickeyMouseTrapH0use

He had to go back to the mothership, give him some time

  10. NWoods84

The league is allowing the worst aspects and actors to suck up all the attention, the league’s policy seems to be all news is good news.

  11. supermegabussin

It is kinda crazy how easy going Silver is with the players this year. There’s been so much drama and no team has played 10 games yet.

  12. QBRisNotPasserRating

Silver literally issued a comment yesterday and announced an in-person meeting with Kyrie. How is that “completely absent?”

  13. Silver said he was waiting for Kyrie to issue an apology. Bro he just shitted on your beliefs and history. Id expect at-least some urgency to get some repercussions done.

  14. Syn-apps

At least he took away 2 2nds from the Sixers though!

Earlier I kind of felt that this season represented the full transition from sport to reality TV that revolves around a sport. But this season has been way beyond typical NBA drama. Articles about off court controversies outnumber highlights and basketball talk like 5:1 right now. It’s not this subs fault imo, just indicative of where the league and its coverage is at right now.

  16. lets_talk_basketball

Silver clearly was waiting to see if the nets were gonna do something, or if Kyrie was gonna retract his statement.. Since both looked bleak he said he’d meet w/ Kyrie this upcoming week.. People are acting like he said he’s gonna speak to him next year, a week to speak to someone is fine, this shit isn’t a state of emergency man

  17. SODTAOEMAN

He wanted to use the word impotent, which is the correct word.

I can expect this comment to be from r/nba, not someone who covers the league for a living. In the past 2 decades, the commiss job changed, and all the power someone like Stern had, moved to players. Silver can’t punish players, even in the Kyrie situation.

On the other hand, the Dray/Poole scuffle is not a league wide issue. It was internal. I am not sure what the hell he wants the league to do when GSW didn’t even suspend Draymond? Which is also similar to Ime’s internal situation with the Celtics.

Out of all mention, my knock on the league would be for Miles Bridges stiaution, which was legal, on tape, and yet silence

  19. shittydotamorph

I think he gives players and teams fair time to solve the problem themselves. I think most of the responses have been adequate once they come down. The nets response is probably a nba recommendation

  20. Due_Connection179

Kyrie was literally just punished and might not play for the Nets again. Draymond was also fined by the Warriors for punching Poole, so it’s not like they haven’t been giving out punishments. Primo was let go by the Spurs, but the Spurs will probably lose 2nd round picks + get fined for how the handled that.

  21. n01saround

We need Kyrie for commissioner! Bring back uncommon sense!

  22. Right-Pirate-7084

It’s amazing to me everyone bitched about stern for handling this type of shit with an iron fist. Applaud silver because he player friendly. Silver lives up to being player friendly, and then people are upset.

  23. notthebestchristian

I think Silver’s trying to recuse himself because he’s Jewish.

The black supremacy movement frequently claims Jews run the world. If Silver steps in heavy handed, they’ll all just point and say “see, I told you”.

That doesn’t mean they’re right, but I am sure that is a a fear Silver has.

  24. leavemealonefamb

Silver is tip toeing because he knows he will be labeled a racist if he comes hot out of the chute.

  25. MileHighCam

I actually applaud silver for letting the warriors work out the whole Poole/draymond situation.. let draymond sink himself, and clearly the warriors aren’t “all good” at 3-6 with their entire roster healthy and losing to the Magic lmaoo (no offense magic fans – I love Disney)

I actually do think silver was waiting to see what the nets do on their own.. kyrie tanking his own legacy just like Kanye is infinitely more impactful then him coming down on day 1 with the same 5 game suspension and letting kyrie off the hook .. the more kyrie feels he has freedom, the farther he gets away from having this platform in the first place. Guy gonna be out the league soon at this rate

  26. My_Diet_DrKelp

Nothing cracked me up more than when Tony Kornheiser would yell every time Adam Silver was a topic of discussion discussion “& if there were a LIVING, BREATHING Commissionner!!”

  27. Iceraptor17

Silver is in a tough position.

Let’s be honest, Kyries opinions are probably more common in nba locker rooms then we’d like to believe. Silver wants this all to go away before more players talk about it. What makes it even worse is people who think it will see what’s happening to Kyrie and go further down the rabbit hole (even though it’s dumb as all hell).

It’s a crap situation for the league.

  28. FrnklndaTurtle

Tis unsafe foh vampyre to traverse through daylight

  29. OverallBat0

What do you want Adam to do? Only reason we are talking about dremond is because the video leaked out. The nets already suspended Kyrie.

  30. souttous

You know Brian Windhorst was that fat kid in class who was always tattling and trying to police everyone for no reason

  31. bravof1ve

    No shit.

What it would take to spur Silver into action is if he found out Kyrie Irving traded Evan Turner in an effort to tank games. Then, you could count on Mr. Silver for quick and decisive action

  32. AtreusIsBack

It’s because Irving is still a big pull in the NBA and they are hoping Kyrie will turn things around before they actually have to punish him. It’s all money, people. Players are assets and attractions at the end of the day.

  33. KellogsFRostedTakes

The Dray thing is whatever to me, but the Kyrie thing I feel bad for Silver for.

If he automatically suspends Kyrie, he opens himself and the league up to the antisemitic fervor that is growing in this country and makes Kyrie look vindicated to these people because a Jewish man, regardless of it being rightful and justified, did in fact silence him.

That’s all these fucking lunatics need to start going nuts.

  34. RoyTarpleysGhost

The NBA is like 95% black. Lebron James and Chris Paul and other prominent players have been absent. Silver is in a tough position. They’re gonna call for his head next if he punishes these players.

  35. Xc0liber

Maybe he’s out 2-3 weeks due to personal issues.

  36. hokutonoken19xx

it’s cuz those teams arent the Sixers smh

  37. Elysioni

wasnt absent when he was handing out tampering fines ill tell you that much.
