If we get the #2 pick in the 2023 NBA Draft, would you rather draft Scoot Henderson & start him at the point alongside SGA/Giddey or trade down for a legitimate haul with a team like say the New York Knicks?

Me personally, I’d rather trade down & try to acquire a win now player along with some future draft compensation. I really like the team we’ve built right now & don’t want any questionable fits impacting our rotation. I’ll use the Knicks again as an example. If we’re to trade down with them, I’d certainly like to have Mitchell Robinson, who I believe would be an excellent option to start alongside Chet. The total package would be like 9(NYK), 15(WAS), 2024 1st, 2026 1st, & Mitchell Robinson for Scoot Henderson.

Who on the New York Knicks would we want? Its a team of flawed and/or overpaid players

Trade down. We have plenty of guards

I prefer a shooter, cuz god we need it.

I’d also be interested to see if there any chance the team at 1 would accept a trade package for something like 7 firsts. Most say there’s no way a team trades out of 1 but then again there’s never been an offer like that made.

  5. SGA and Scoot. Giddey is realistically not getting in the way of the chance of another guy with star potential

No way should we trade either too 2 pick if we’re lucky enough to get either. The top two guys look like franchise players.

You take him and you figure out fit later

Trade down and get two top picks this year to cop both of the Thompson twins 😎

I think BPA so scoot and in that scenario I would be in favor of a Giddey trade for some kind of shooter as much as I’m a fan of Giddey’s game.

If Scoot is clearly a tier above anyone not named Victor then you draft him and trade Giddey if the fit isn’t working.

Take Scoot. Figure out which of the 3 guards that are already starting are playing off of the bench.

  12. You don’t pass up his talent, you make the fit work.

Now if we get something like the 4th overall pick…you can start that debate. It’s basically Victor, Scoot, then a group of about 3-4 guys, then another group of abour another 3-8 guys, and the talent discrepancy between 3 and 14 might be narrower than 2 and 3.

Which isn’t a knock on whomever is graded third overall (Nick smith, Anthony black, can whitmore) it’s just Victor and Scott are generational/all nba, and 3 and beyond are all star or all defense or elite role player caliber. At that point, 3 and beyond, you can argue one can move down to draft for fit and pick up additional assets.

3-10 is heavy on wing talent. There’s some intriguing players there, like Anthony Black, but I’m not particularly overwhelmed by any of them. Of course it’s ridiculously early to make that assessment when the college/g league seasons haven’t stated yet.

We don’t need more fucking guards, jeez…
