[Price] Jonathan Isaac using ‘next few weeks’ to get into game shape.

So as not to post an entire article that’s under a paywall on this subreddit — I believe that’s frowned upon — I’ll summarize:

Isaac recently told Khobi Price of the Orlando Sentinel that during the past two weeks, he’s been playing 5-on-5 with the coaching staff when the team’s in Orlando. Quote Isaac: “I’m still getting there. But in terms of body, knees and hamstrings, everything is great. I’m just not in game shape.”

When the team is on the road, he’s doing individual workouts which include playing 1s, running on the court, things that get him tired.

While JI isn’t sure when he’ll be back, he says he foresees himself continuing to get in shape and getting more integrated with the team during these next few weeks.

Quote Isaac: “If it’s me, it’s always sooner than later. In my mind, I’m like ‘yo, I can play 10 minutes.’ But at the same time, I get it. They want it to be the last go-round and be fully in shape. I don’t have to get on the court worrying about being tired. I don’t have to get on the court worrying about anything else other than just playing ball. I’ve got to get to that point and when I am, I’ll be ready.”

Price later added that Isaac is further along in the return to play process than he was before he suffered a setback (hamstring injury in mid-March) that required surgery.

“I can’t drive that point home enough — it’s really just about getting in shape right now,” Isaac said. “I have no reservations about my legs and they [Magic front office] don’t either.”

  1. Lurker here who’s stashing this guy in fantasy. Even if healthy, what do you all think your rotations would look like with JI back? Seems really crowded.

I want him to come back so badly

I was thinking he was gonna retire with multiple DPOYs and become one of the best defenders of all time. One of the only people in the NBA that can truly guard the 1-5

Writing a book and speaking at Qrazy Qonferences are more important than conditioning.
