Highlights/Lowlights from the Kings game

**JP Lowlights**

[\[1\]](https://go.nba.com/i1hj2) Lazy defense by JP leads to a good look for
Monk from 3 and he nails it

[\[2\]](https://go.nba.com/m4pc70) JP gets screened off too easily, then doesnt fight back into the play, which allows for Monk to penetrate easily and collapse the Warriors defense, before kicking it out to Fox for the open 3 which he hits

[\[3\]](https://go.nba.com/adg07) JP overcommits on Monk to deny him the 3 (good), forces Looney to rotate to cover the drive, Monk gets the ball to Metu, Kings have the right side overloaded forcing Wiggins to guard two players at once, because JP didnt rotate to cover Fox

[\[4\]](https://go.nba.com/lgqlw) JP out boxing out Murray

[\[5\]](https://go.nba.com/k4u2d) JP doesnt step up into the passing lane when Dray rotates, but the Kings throw the ball away

[\[6\]](https://go.nba.com/7krq0) JP ballwatching/poor awareness leads to an good look from Huerter in the corner, missed thankfully

[\[7\]](https://go.nba.com/r2jpc) JP loses track of Murray again ballwatching

[\[8\]](https://go.nba.com/l9v34) JP randomly doubles Sabonis on the pseudo break, leaving his man, Huerter open for the 3 which he missed

[\[9\]](https://go.nba.com/ylwj1) JP sags off Fox soft doubling Sabonis leaving him wide fucking open for 3 which he missed

[\[10\]](https://go.nba.com/ylwj1) JP gets caught up in the deep in the paint against Huerter and tries to pass it out leading to a TO (just take the fucking shot dude, its fucking Huerter)

[\[11\]](https://go.nba.com/ylwj1) JP jogs back on defense after committing ht dumb TO

[\[12\]](https://go.nba.com/z0upr) JP lazy transition defense, goes to cover Fox who is already marked by Wiggins, leaves Huerter wide open for the layup

[\[13\]](https://go.nba.com/c84v9) **1) terrible pass from JP who gets caught in the air again, lucky that wasnt stolen 2) he had a wide open lane to the basket and chose to pass out instead……….**

[\[14\]](https://go.nba.com/kaqhi) JP lazy defense, not aware of the shot clock, or that Davis is cooking tonight, leads to an open amde 3 by Davis

[\[15\]](https://go.nba.com/mcqe4) JP and Wiggins both play lazy transition defense, and dont close down the passing lanes, leads to an open layup for Metu where JP blatantly fouls him but gets lucky AF and doesnt get called for it

**Klay shot selection**

[\[1\]](https://go.nba.com/go54w) bad shot, too much dribbling, tough shot fading away and to the left, the less Klay dribbles the better, leads to a miss

[\[2\]](https://go.nba.com/jjtny) Good shot, curling off a Looney screen to the wing, designed play, comes within the flow of the offense, makes it

[\[3\]](https://go.nba.com/8gbd4) Good shot, wide open, feet set, body square, makes it

[\[4\]](https://go.nba.com/9bp9q) Good shot, cutting backdoor, open, missed the shot but got the foul

[\[5\]](https://go.nba.com/3zwsr) Good shot, slides out after the dribble penetration breakdown the defense and gets the open shot, missed it

[\[6\]](https://go.nba.com/di98l) Bad shot, Klay decides to Iso Huerter, gets the driving lane cut down so opts for a spinning fadeaway jumper which curls in (good shot if Klay hot)

[\[7\]](https://go.nba.com/d6gzr) Good shot, open off the the action/Dray screen, feet set body square, missed it short

[\[8\]](https://go.nba.com/xnyw9) Good shot, pumpfakes the defender flies by, keeps his pivot foot on the ground, one dribble into midrange pullup, hits it

[\[9\]](https://go.nba.com/i95fg) Bad shot, Klay gets the rebound, takes it coast to coast, dribbles into a three (while Draymond slips on a wet spot), and hits it, not a shot you want him taking unless hes hot though

[\[10\]](https://go.nba.com/lpna8) Good shot, curling off a Looney screen, classic Warriors action, missed it but Looney would have had the rebound if not for Huerters great play

[\[11\]](https://go.nba.com/u36kk) Bad shot, lots of dribbling to his right, ends up in a tough fadeaway against Mitchell when Steph was open on the wing

[\[12\]](https://go.nba.com/g9tfg) Bad shot, this is right on the line between good and bad on the one hand hes open initallyafter the Lamb screen and this is a classic Warriors play, on the other hand the Lamb screen is weak AF, Monk recovers and Klay is forced to quickshot, leading to the miss, Lamb gets interior position off the roll and get the put back to save the play

[\[13\]](https://go.nba.com/5ltkz) Bad shot, Klay dribbles through two defender to get to the cup, then gets his shot altered by the weakside rim protector, had Jerome open in the corner off the Davis double

[\[14\]](https://go.nba.com/und8u) Bad shot, Klay steps into a deep three when hes cold with 18 seconds left on the shot clock, then gets the OREB off the Wiggins tip and try to force the pass to Dray through 3 people instead of resetting, oh and where the fuck is JP lmao

[\[15\]](https://go.nba.com/o9h15) Good shot, get the steal off the lazy pass, gets the 1v1 just misses the layup, would have liked to see him go harder at Monks body since hes such a piss poor defender but whatever

[\[16\]](https://go.nba.com/nb358) Good shot, Dray screen with Klay curling off it leads to an open 3, classic Warriors offense

[\[17\]](https://go.nba.com/df9iu) Bad shot, Klay get Sabonis switched onto him and dribbles around a bit before taking and missing the 3, Wiggins was open on the wing too off the Dray screen which i think is where this play was supposed too go

[\[18\]](https://go.nba.com/f35iw) Bad shot, Klay not in rhythm takes and misses a contested leaning fast break 3 with 21 seconds on the clock down 6, gotta get a good shot up considering the score and this wasnt it

Good shots: 4-8

Bad shots: 2-9

**Klay crunchtime defense**

Note this only covers the final 6 minutes of the game

[\[1\]](https://go.nba.com/sxlds) Sabonis sets the illegal wipeout screen on Curry for Huerter, Huerter takes and makes the the wide open 3, Klay not involved

[\[2\]](https://go.nba.com/9vay7) Sabonis PnR with Huerter, Sabonis gets good position but Looney blocks the shot, Klay not involved

[\[3\]](https://go.nba.com/9vay7) Wiggins tips the Fox pass to Sabonis, scramble for the ball, Monk gets it and Curry fouls him, Klay barely involved

[\[4\]](https://go.nba.com/4k6h4) Fox-Sabonis PnR, Fox goes away from the screen and Klay get turned around but does a good job staying front of Fox, Sabonis re-screens, Looney switches onto Fox and Fox hits the fadeaway midrange (that shots damn near unblockable/idenfensible btw, much like CP3’s midrang)

[\[5\]](https://go.nba.com/hcmb1) Davis-Sabonis PnR, Davis hits Sabonis on the roll who flops into Looney for the foul, Klay not involved

[\[6\]](https://go.nba.com/1vtd3) Fox has Klay on an iso, Kings run a double stack screen for Monk who comes free, Looney hedges, Klay strikes down, Monk briefly loses the handle, recovers, and hits the tough layup on Looney

[\[7\]](https://go.nba.com/co37t0 Terrance Davis steal leads to a Monk fast break dunk, Klay not involved

[\[8\]](https://go.nba.com/sq2dr) Fox-Sabonis PnR, Looney switches onto Fox, Klay cuts down the passing lane to Sabonis while recovering to take Fox and reswitch with Looney, stops the drive, forces Fox to give the ball up to Huerter who passes it into Sabonis in the post who misses the hook

[\[9\]](https://go.nba.com/h91qp) Fox-Sabonis Pnr, Klay fights over the top of the weak screen, recovers, cuts down Fox’s driving lane and forces into the contested midrange which he misses

[\[10\]](https://go.nba.com/0hbzj) Monk isos Klay, Klay does a good job stopping the initial part of the drive but Monk fights through and turns the corner, no weakside help so Monk gets an open layup

[\[11\]](https://go.nba.com/2n3at) Monk lets the ball roll up, waits for Klay to deke at the ball before picking it up and driving, get by Klay initially but he recovers into the trail position, reaches in and gets ball then Monks free arm, didnt need to reach because Looney was covering weakside but isnt FT since the Warriors werent over the limit

[\[12\]](https://go.nba.com/dwe6i) Fox-Monk PnR, Klay denies Fox the drive, Fox hits the contested midrange jumper

[\[12\]](https://streamable.com/4n4404) Ah the controversial play of the night Klay fouls Huerter on the arm, dumb AF, but contrary to popular opinion, theres really only one foul on the play, the contact with the arm on the shot, as the NBA doesnt call hand checking anymore and Klay takes his hand of Huerters waist when he rises up, theres no landing space foul either, dumb contest by Klay but not nearly as egregious as some folks in the main sub were making it out to be

**Looney 1st half fouls**

[\[1\]](https://go.nba.com/rbpcf) Sabonis gets doubled in the post, has nowhere to go, flails into Looney hoping for a bailout call and gets one

[\[2\]](https://go.nba.com/ym8ww) Looney called for a very minor bump on Sabonis on the OREB, this type of play happens dozens of times per game uncalled

[\[3\]](https://go.nba.com/vcj7v) Looney rotates to Monk on the drive and gets called for the brush foul

**Mis.**

[\[1\]](https://go.nba.com/y4x03) JK and Lamb fuck up a coverage leading to a wide open layup

[\[2\]](https://go.nba.com/f2wo8) Lamb called for the excuse me foul cutting as De’aron Fox grab onto his arm in the trail position

[\[3\]](https://go.nba.com/wacre) bad pass by Klay and bad hands by JK leads to a TO

[\[4\]](https://go.nba.com/2m6ta) JP gets smacked in the face by Monk warding off on the drive

[\[5\]](https://go.nba.com/dpd4d) Curry and Klay fuck up a coverage Doubling Huerter leaving Fox wide fucking open, luck out that he swings the ball to Murray, nice hustle by Klay to get back into the play with a late contest (JP could learn a thing or two from this play)

**General**

JP needs to get his shit together fast, his level of effort and intensity is inexcusable right now, he fucked up less in the 1st half but committed the cardinal sin of basketball, he did nothing, camped in the corner 3 point, refused to drive to score even though they were playing 5 out, didnt cut/bakccut, didnt create, didnt set screens for anyone, didnt fucking move etc. 2nd half was better, although he fucked up more (and passed up 2 openish layups for TO’s for some bizarre fucking reason) but id rather he try and fail than not try at all. If hes hurt they need to just rest him and let him heal up, cuz the current iteration of JP is a massive negative to the team.

Which leads into the second issue but the bench lineup just does nothing on offense, they just stand around camping the 3point line with some PnR, no one drives and we just jack up jumpers, like some shit tier cosplay of the 2018 Rockets. Its even stranger because in the Pelicans game they were able to run the offense/sets so idk why theyre incapable of doing it as a bench unit. Wouldnt be surprised to see Kerr break up Steph and Drays minutes to help the bench get organized on offense and defense

We also kinda hilariously missed Wiseman a bit with the bench unit because when hes on the floor on offense on the weakside block he pulls the weakside rim protector to him, and they refuse to leave him on drives in fear of giving up the lob/bounce/putback dunk, without that Kings were content to switch the PnR to cut down driving lane.

Wouldnt be a Warriors game without some terrible 3 point shooter cooking us, tonights candidate, Terrance Davis, 27% on 3’s this year, 3/7 last night

Liked what i saw from Lamb in the 2nd half, has one of the funkiest 3 balls youll see but looked like a solid defender capable of playing in the switch heavy scheme

JK is gonna keep losing minutes cuz of his defensive fuck ups, they need to run him with starter heavy lineups with Dray at the 5 where his job is simplified and used mostly as a play finisher.

That JP-Steph-Klay-Wiggins-Dray lineup just does not work unless Steph, JP, and Klay are all hitting shots at a high rate, we really lucked out that the Kings missed some good fucking looks too start the 2nd half though. Get why Kerr ran them out though, didnt want Looney picking up his 4th foul early, and wanted to up tempo the game against the stone footed Sabonis

More Moody, in spite of his weaknesses we look better when hes on the court, hes willing to do the little things that help you win and plays hard through his fuck ups

TLDR: and somehow, its still all Wisemans fault

JP is acting like he just wanted to get paid. Played hard for that check and now…..

Wiggs is our 2nd best player but sometimes he needs to be a little more Alpha to help out Curry.

The fact that Curry needed to go into ultimate mode just to beat the Kings is sad.

  2. Wontonsoupz

Tbh klay wouldn’t be that bad if he took good shot selection. He’d be around last years shooting percentages and be a solid player instead of borderline unwatchable

  3. cyb3ryung

this sub is obsessed with Poole and Klay rn. it’s getting weird

  4. ChrisPaulsABitch

Damn so many links might as well just watch the game!

  5. I_am_Bruce_Wayne

Sorry, but its still Wiseman’s fault.

JP has been ass on defense. The film confirms that Joran Poole needs to wake the fuck up on defense

    /r/TheRed_Knight is a based poster.

Thank you for posting all of Joran Poole’s defensive lapses. Christ all 15 were terrible. He is even worse than I thought. Joran Poole needs to watch these threads and start giving a damn on the defensive end.

  8. CreepyDepartment5509

When Draymond punched Poole he caused a ripple effect and took away the skills of all J’s in the warriors
