If the Lakers keep trending in the wrong direction and decide to move on from Anthony Davis would you like the Celtics to try and trade for him? The salary match is where it gets tricky and obviously he’s not as good as JB or JT

would I trade *what* for Anthony Davis?

Given what we’d have to give up (from both a salary matching point of view and what the Lakers will likely demand)? Hard pass.

I mean sure if it was like Horford, White, and 2-3 picks + a swap I would do that. However, if Davis is on the market there are teams that are going to put better packages out there for that make more sense for the Lakers.

Serious question given injuries, leadership and locker room dynamics, does trading Al straight up for AD make the Celtics better this year?

No. He already said (as did his father) that he didn’t want to play here. And he probably wouldn’t be playing anyways since he’s hurt all the time. Don’t feel like doing the Hayward/Kemba thing all over again.

In a vacuum, the potential of a fully healthy Smart/JT/JB/AD/Rob lineup is damn near dynastic. I don’t think any teams could match the switching defensively of that group, sure as shit aren’t coming inside when Rob and AD are hunting blocks in the paint. There could be some issues with spacing if AD doesn’t get his midrange game back, which is something Al provides more consistently.
But, the pieces required to make that move would seriously disrupt the chemistry of the team which I don’t think can be overlooked — not to mention the collective health risks of Smart/Brogdon/AD/Rob. It would be a glass cannon of a team imo.
