Dwight said the following on Shannon Sharpe’s podcast:
> “I would’ve been willing to go back to the Lakers,” said Dwight Howard. “I’ve been willing to go back. They told me every time we not gonna give nobody over 30 a multiple-year contract. So I’m like, ‘Dang, I just helped y’all win the NBA championship. Y’all could get your boy a meal or two or give me a meal. I don’t want a whole bunch of minutes. Give me 20 minutes and let me ball out.’”
After the Bubble Ring, the Lakers notoriously let key role players like Dwight, Rondo and McGee walk. They opted to replace them by signing Harrell and acquiring Schroder, both under 30. Despite this emphasis on getting younger, the Lakers would lose in 6 to the Suns that year. Should Dwight be on an NBA team? If so, which one?

That’s not fair, AD’s ligaments are well over 40.
The Lakers Begged Dwight not to leave in 2013, and here we are.
He wanted a multi year contract??
He’ll likely get a call if/when some other rotation bigs get injured. I see why the Lakers took a flyer on the current centers since they already know what Dwight provides. And he’s not changing anything for us so I’m sure the front office yet again is like nah let’s save some money bro and just let AD get hurt every game playing the 5.
what’s wrong with playing in the NBA year to year on 1 year contracts? sounds better than going overseas. especially since you have children no?

Lol Dwight not being on any NBA roster is crazy to me. He gives massive production in his 10-20mins
Good choice to let him walk, Dwight Howard is only worth 1 year contracts around the vet minimum rn.
Dude a clown so no lol have fun in Taiwan
Well, not nobody.
Lol. This is so dumb for both of them. The Lakers put up billboards asking him to STAY the first time. Now he wants a “meal”? They’re both doing fine. (I mean they’re not but the Lakers are the Lakers and Dwight isn’t going to starve.) Nobody is getting any sympathy here.
2021 was a very good roster, they lost early because both LeBron and AD were somewhat hurt/coming off injuries. Dwight/McGee/Rondo wouldn’t have changed that. They also let Rondo go because he got a big deal, no other team would have matched that
“We’re not going to give YOU a contract”
– Lakers
Dwight to the warriors? Maybe both Iggy and Dwight can combine to be one whole player
dwight wants to start
Thats pretty regular thinking for a sports club. Bayern Munich follows the same philosophy
