Matt Brooks from Nets Daily talks Ime Udoka, Kyrie Irving and the state of the Brooklyn Nets

Adam Armbrecht welcomes friend of the podcast Matt Brooks to talk all things Brooklyn Nets basketball. Recorded on Monday afternoon following back-to-back wins, Matt and Adam look at the key talking points off the court for Brooklyn.

First, in what seemed like an all but “done deal” the ime Udoka hiring took big steps back over the past week. Matt Brooks outlines the reporting from key NBA voices and how the Nets inexplicably failed to see the potential blow back in hiring a coach with his own controversy.

Adam also highlights the six-point process the Nets have in place for Kyrie Irving to successfully return to the team – but the question remains, is he willing to do what the organization requires? Beyond the needs or wants, Matt Brooks also looks at what would be best for the team overall.

Lastly, as is the case with the team, Adam and Matt discuss the team on the floor. Matt notes that Royce O’Neal, while a nice addition, is not a simple one-to-one replacement for Bruce Brown. The chang over to Jacque Vaughn brought the immediate insertion of Cam Thomas to the rotation which has the guys looking at how the interim head coach has performed and which players(if still on the roster) could shine across the 2022 season.

  1. The Brooklyn nets have been locked in since Kyrie Irving has been away from the team. Kevin Durant has become his elite floor general self and has established a fun team atmosphere.

Guys like cam Thomas joe Harris Yuta Watanabe Royce o Neale and nic Claxton have really found that stride and played great basketball.

Ben Simmons coming off the bench actually looked better then it did and going forward could be Simmons chance to improve.

But going forward does Brooklyn envision themselves keeping Kyrie or Ben on this team or trying to see what assets they could get for them?

Regardless this team showed against the Mavs they have a deep bench and they can add more to that dynamic going forward

  2. Kyrie has been a nightmare but Kyrie did nothing wrong this yr. Unless Tsai brings back Kyrie & Udoka, the Nets are choosing politics over winning.

  3. The chemistry was better with Harden/KD then it was with KD/Kyrie. Kai should have been traded last off season and we should have fielded 3 and D players from last year. I am also talking from PURE BASKETBALL, nothing political. If we are gonna trade KD, I want Ingram.

  4. Why must he meet with the Anti-defamation league (ADL)? What does ADL have to do with the NBA and it's playing. It's obvious overkill and modern day "Buck-breaking"

  5. With Udoka’s punishment, they left him know path forward like they did with Kyrie. That’s very unfair.

  6. So it stops being consensual when workplace harassment kicks in? They might throw that out there to make Ime look worse than he really is. I'm not buying that workplace harassment bs.

  7. If you calling something antisemitic you probably haven't seen the film. I know people who saw it and it had no antisemitic talking points nor did it say anything about the Holocaust not being real

  8. I think they need to sit Ben we been doing better without him he needs to get a little better before I would start him

  9. I like oneale but he is not better than Bruce brown. Bruce was only one who played good steadily through us getting swept . It was stupid to let him go

  10. Joe Snake TSAI and Sucka Sean Marks " hired Jacque Vaughn, simply to undercut Ime Udoka " at the suggestion of Adam Silver Slippers and the discriminatory higher-ups " DONE " WITH THE BROOKLYN BS BIGOTRY NETS!! I STAND WITH KYRIE IRVING AND IME UDOKA!!

  11. If Simmons had any offense in the paint to give you 15-25 a night, 10 boards, 8-10 assists we can live without Ky. But I want Ky. I would love him more as a team player 5 assists+ and 15+ points.
Simmons plays as if his back is injury prone on both ends of the court is why he is dogging it. The excuse for a rookie of the year needs more time to get his game is BS or he is just afraid to score in paint. I've never seen someone afraid to shoot so close to basket and pass it off. Geez learn a sky hook within 10 feet of basket.
