The Portland Trail Blazers improved to 5-1 on the road with a 105-95 win over the Hornets in Charlotte. Damian Lillard scored 26, Shaedon Sharpe added a career-high 17 as Portland improved to 8-3.
8:15 – Youth as on display for the the Blazers who played without Jusuf Nurkic and Jerami Grant and had to ride rookies Sharpe and Jabari Walker for extended minutes. It was a testament to Portland’s present competence and potential for a special future.
17:21 – The third segment is all about sustainability and why the Blazers 8-3 start seems like the real deal. This team is good.

Dude, Mikeā¦. This team, youāve said it so many times, but by golly they are just flat out fun to watch. Theyāve got such great chemistry and you can really feel and see the trust Dame has in his teammates that you didnāt see years prior (outside of people named CJ).

Jabari gave a good account of himself tonight. We were getting killed on the glass. But when he came in, it started to look and feel much better. And that trey he dropped was beautiful. In a couple years, that young man is going to be a real problem for teams as he bulks up and puts the finishing touches on his shooting and other skills. Shaedon Sharpe is an absolute star. The league just doesn't see it yet. That young man is incredibly special. I get Koby vibes from him with a little Vince mixed in for good measure. His lift and hang is absolutely nuts. I'm enjoying watching him grow and get comfortable in the league. He's just special.
This team is unbreakable: No Dame, no Simons, they win, No Nurk, no Grant, they still winā¦
In games without two starters, they won, not many teams can afford thatā¦ And capability to turn around games, itās terrifying. Against Heat for example, how many teams can do that??

Somthing i love about this roster and how ots used is nobody on it is playing bad, I dont cringe when I see or hear a player called up like past seasons I don't get worried when certain bench guys are put in because they are put in around guys thay benefit them and the team and benefits there strengths
I mean ur taking ant and Ss that both didnāt play at the college level, and Trent and Walker are both Jrās of Nba players. Kinda funny the mirror effect.
There are some things that would make a strong start seem unsustainable.
Have an early schedule heavy with home games.
Have an early schedule heavy with sub 500 teams
Are fully healthy and caught several teams that had injuries.
You have 1 or 2 guys shooting impossibly above their career average.
None of those apply to this Blazers squad
Itās fun being critical of a 8-3 team. This team is very good, but thereās things they can do to become great. This team have a championship potential vibe going on if they clean up a few things.
Best iteration of a blazers team in a while! Canāt wait for us to 100% healthy and to see GP2 wreak havoc out there !
