On one hand, that’s a travel.. on the other, they never call that so why do it now?

I feel like this kind of travel (picking up your foot before you start your dribble) is actually called fairly frequently and consistently. It’s also kind of less excusable for a player to commit because it should be easy to avoid doing it. Travels involving gather steps are way more debatable but to me this is cut and dry, regardless of it being a late game possession.

It’s about freaking time. Traveling has gotten out of hand for years, and receiving the inbound pass and then taking several steps is a part of the game that has really degraded into taking waaaay too many steps. I hope this gets called more.

I just don’t get this. Like it’s obviously a travel. How do these players not have it ingrained in them not to fucking move both feet while holding the ball? Like you’ve been playing basketball 20+ years at this point. That’s one of the most basic fundamental rules.

Travel every time. Last 15 seconds of a game, all eyes are on you. Way out in mid-court so he’s not blocked by other players. He was already allowed steps to secure it. Shifted his pivot foot ball without dribbling. Shouldn’t be controversial.
