hopefully. although luka is a shameless stat padder so who knows
thatisgangster
I doubt it tbh, Luka has no help and has to carry the Mavs hard
Theis159
Honestly if he gets it, it means one of two things: 1) the Mavs got enough help for Luka and they’re scary or 2) Luka fell off and the Mavs are in playins contention.

Meh. Scoring title is cool, but I’d rather Tatum get the MVP/ring.

I doubt it bc Luka is a stat padder and is in a heliocentric offense which leads to crazy inflated scoring stats. Luka wouldve stat pad at the end of last night so hard for 50.

We’re not even into second half post all star break Tatum yet

If they actually gave it to the player with most points rather than PPG, then yes.

I don’t think he gets it, but I think he stays top 5. As others have said, there are some greedy players in this league (many who have to be given lack of talent around them).
But you see Tatum shake off Smart last night when Marcus asked if he wanted to go for 50?
MVP vibes

Luka has no one else to score so it’ll probably be him
Quasi53
I think JT got a shot to be a champ.
Bacondog22
If Luka Scores less than thirty the mavs lose. Hell get the scoring title because he is the mavs offense. I hope Tatum gets MVP but there’s a lot of season left.
Orikshekor
If it was total points then maybe but nah Luka is gonna get this shit with the way his squad is playing
mmmjjjk
Luka just gets way more offensive options, the whole team is built around him. Luka would not be as high if he had so many shooters and JB
TH3_ZucC
Scoring title is hard to get when you have other talented scorers on your team. In the end it’ll probably go to a guy that has to absolutely carry his team on offense like Luka or Steph.
zgamer200
Would be great to see Tatum win the scoring title, MVP, NBA championship and Finals MVP all in one season, but it’s hard to see him surpassing Luka in PPG when Luka is simply asked to do and score more for the Mavs’ offense. Plus Luka gets a better whistle from the refs as well.

Not really lol. Luka’s team literally has nobody

I don’t and here’s why: Tatum is more than capable of averaging 35~+ if he decided to be a shot chucker and lead the team in FGA every game, but that’s not who he is anymore. He has quietly become the role model leader on this team, leaving the vocal leading to guys like Smart, and his decision making is the best example he’s set so far. Asides from his 3 out of a double team at the end of the game as a cheeky last attempt at hitting 50 last night, Tatum made all the right passes when he had to. His gravity as a scorer allows him to rack up assists and hockey assists and he recognizes the value of passing up a good shot for a great one, and you can see that mindset bleeding into the team mindset.
I would much rather see Tatum average 29-31 on great efficiency and add an extra 2 assists to his Stat line every night instead of an extra 2 or 3 points. This teammate trust he is displaying does tremendous work for the confidence of everyone on the team and instills a sense of unselfishness that I haven’t seen in this team over the last several years.
The craziest part? I think their passing can get even better. I still see missed extra swing passes every game that could improve our already incredible shot quality selection. I’m not gonna bust out the 2014 Spurs comparisons yet because they were on a different level (seriously, go watch the beautiful game Spurs highlights if you haven’t before). But I truly do see us as one of the best passing teams in the league with room to go (I am so fucking excited for Timelord touch passes out of the post FUCK).
Tatum may not get the scoring title but he should absolutely be an MVP favorite the way he’s setting the example for this team on both ends of the floor every night.
KTO-Potato
Nope. Not when the rest of our team is shooting lights out. We’re lucky that we don’t have to rely on 1 guy to carry the team.
