Usual, Katz writes some of the best stuff on the beat.

    Some of the highlights:

Even with all of their spacing issues, the Knicks are poking at a top-10 offense; currently 11th in the NBA in points per possession.

Robinson is third in the league in offensive rebound rate, but Jericho Sims and Isaiah Hartenstein are in the top 10, as well. The Knicks as a whole are third.

Only three percent of the Knicks’ shots are long 2s, the smallest figure in the NBA.

Through 22 games, only four percent of [Julius] shots are long 2s, a career low and down four times from his first couple of seasons under Thibodeau.

Randle averages about 20 percent fewer dribbles for every time he touches the ball, according to Second Spectrum, a significant downtick from 2021-22.

The Knicks don’t make many 3s. They’re not getting to the free-throw line as often as they did a season ago. They’re near the bottom of the league in field-goal percentage. And yet, a team that hasn’t finished with an above-average attack in eight seasons has climbed to 11th in offense thus far.
Taking good shots leads to good offense, even when they don’t go in as often as you’d like.
