Thad Young, GTJ or Chris Boucher to close games? Plus more Toronto Raptors “One Gotta Go” questions!

In Episode 1293, Sean Woodley is joined by Vivek Jacob (Raptors.com) to play a new classic Locked On Raptors Parlour Game: One Gotta Go, Toronto Raptors edition. The concept is simple! Sean lays out a question with three options to choose from, and he and Vivek must choose the worst of the bunch, aka which one gotta go! Raptors fifth options to close games, one gotta go: Gary Trent Jr., Thad Young OR Chris Boucher? Raptors back-end rotation options, one gotta go: Christian Koloko, Khem Birch OR Malachi Flynn? Raptors to take the final shot of a tie game, one gotta go: O.G. Anunoby, Fred VanVleet OR Scottie Barnes? Great Toronto Raptors passers, one gotta go: Thad Young, Scottie Barnes OR Marc Gasol? Teams to fear in the Eastern Conference, one gotta go: Atlanta, Cleveland OR Philadelphia? Surprising teams in the Eastern Conference, one gotta go: Washington, Indiana OR Brooklyn?

It’s really fun, OK?

  1. Any chance there is a disconnect in the locker room. We seems susceptible to these low energy performances this year. When I see that I dont see it as just being tired or not locked in. It's more the appearance you are no longer playing for the guy next to you.

  2. @sean woodley, i think the writing is on the wall for malachi flynn. even when flynn is playing well, nurse tends to give delano banton or juancho hernangomez more time favoring taller longer players. i believe flynn will be traded likely. i think the change and fresh start will be good for him as well, as he is not really getting the opportunity with the raptors. can they trade flynn, not likely, but it likely gary trent jr gets moved because of of what tyler herro got getting 19ppg last year of a 30 million dollar a year contract. its too rich for the raptors with the contracts they have coming up. especially if siakam gets all nba again this year and is eligible for a supermax.

its what i see as expendable for raptors in terms of salary coming up. unless they dont resign fred vanvleet, i see gary trent jr traded and malach flynn going as well as a throw in. in an ideal world i see khem birch as the most expendable, but with his contract and his knee issues and their depth at center low, i dont see khem traded.

the way og is playing i dont think og is on the market anymore.

barnes i think is going through some growing pains. i think in part him not making 3's is getting to him, as well as his image of himself kinda being questioned. Nurse benching him also likely surprised him in a not good way. I think siakam being the guy on the team also likely taking away the plays running through barnes which he may feel like he should get having gotten the rookie of the year last year. End of the day barnes is still doing better than what giannis did his 2nd year so he is still where he should be. Just a few games where he has to shake himself back to normal after a few bad games. I also believe barnes is dealing with teams watching tape and focusing on him more which he has to learn to deal with. It was kind of like boucher in the bubble, teams didnt focus on him so he was getting open looks, and the following year they were preparing for boucher so he didnt get the open looks so he didnt do as well 1st half and he adjusted to it.
