AJ Griffin has been a nice find for the Hawks after going 16th in the 2022 NBA Draft. Griffin has seen increased opportunity with John Collins and De’Andre Hunter both on the shelf for at least a week. Griffin proceeded to start Friday’s win over Denver, lead the team in minutes (35) and finish with 24 points (11-of-16 FG, 2-of-5 3-Pointers), three rebounds, an assist and three steals. Trae Young was out, but it’s not like this was an outlier performance. Griffin has played well when given a significant run earlier in the season, and he even played hero ball with a game-winning bucket at the buzzer when Atlanta beat Toronto in overtime.
