The Mavericks attempted 61 3s against the Knicks today, which is 2nd most all-time in a non-OT game. They shot 39.3%.

Pretty crazy stuff. The Rockets have shot 63 before in a non-OT game, which is the all-time record. The rockets have also shot 61 3s 4 times before. The rockets did attempt 70 3s in an OT game.

I didn’t watch the game so I’m not sure how this happened, but letting this happen to you in any year is insane. The Mavs scored 24 3s for 72 points, while the Knicks scored 10 3s for 30 points, for a total differential of 42 points behind the arc. What is Thibs doing.

Mavs role players either do this record breaking three point shooting or shoot like 6% combining for 12 points.

    There’s no inbetween

We *might* have a slight problem guarding the 3 point line

By the end of the 1st half, they were like 22%

Their offensive gameplan is so reminiscent of LeBron’s 2018 Cavaliers

I know the Mavs 3PT shooting gets memed a ton. But the players around Luka are all statistically very good shooters. The 3PT percentage across the prior 3 seasons of DFS, Bullock, Kleber, THJ, CWood, Bertans are all between 37%-40%. The other 2 catch and shoot players with below average shooting coming into the season are Josh Green (he did work on it over the summer) and Spencer Dinwiddie (3PT percentage spiked after coming to Dallas and taking less contested 3s). They legit have 7-8 shooters on the roster.

Dallas are second (maybe 1st after the last few games) in open + wide open 3PT attempts per game despite playing with one of the slowest pace in the league. The team really should be near the top of the league in terms of 3PT percentage the way they are constructed.

  7. We realize the mavs are unbeatable when they make their threes. But aren’t most teams?

This trend is exactly why I think Wilts 100 pt game is the only “unbreakable record” that will be broken at some point in my life. I can easily envision a guy shooting 40 3s in a game at some point.

They just had one break from the loosing streak finally. The problem is that they aren’t gonna perform like this in a long while

Feels like 40 of them were wide open. Knicks were really bad defending the 3

  11. Last month knicks allowed celts a historic team record 27 3s. This is not fun.
