A Player Staring at Us in the Face: Richaun Holmes

Been saying this forever in comments, as far as the value here, so I thought screw it I’ll make a post.

**Richaun Holmes:**

🏀The Domas trade and (Harrison Barnes coming back from injury) as well as the Kings now tall ass, lengthy lineup (Domas 6’11”, Barnes 6’9″, Murray 6’8″, Huerter 6’7″ -all with crazy wingspans – and a lengthy bench on top of that) has pushed him so far down the depth chart in the matter of a damn year.

🏀Richaun is a brute down low, an enforcer, whose played essentially nothing, but the 5 since he’s been in the league. He makes up his 6’9″ height with his 7’2″ wingspan and 240 pounds of lean mass and acceleration/speed for a big guy with a 36″ vertical. Reminds of a way more athletic Kevon Looney, but less polished at the 5. Or a TimeLord lite.

🏀He is on a beautiful contract (4yr/55m) for the value he brings (with 3 years left after this season).

🏀He played very well with Haliburton out of the P&R and is not a big guy that just sits still – he knows when to clear space and understands the skillsets of the players around him. Gets up and down the floor with the best of them and thrives in beating his man down court and making plays in transition.

🏀Is the ultimate team guy, does all the dirty work, and brings so much attitude.Seen many games of his, where I thought he was going to rearrange an opponents face for unnecessary hard fouls or messing with his smaller teammates.

🏀He’s gotten better every year since he initially got minutes in Sacramento 3 years ago and was coming off his best year 15pts/9rebs/and almost 2 blocks a game (until the Sabonis trade and Harrison Barnes coming back healthy – then they draft a 6’9″ instant starter with a crazy wingspan in Murray and trade for a 6’7″ SG in Huerter – along with a deep bench).

🏀The Kings have pushed him so far down the depth chart – out of circumstance – and moves they made, I can see them giving him up for not much – they drafted Queta too – so if anything they are probably trying to dump his contract they literally just gave him – out of being overloaded with height, length, and athleticism … I can see them taking the Boston pick or honestly maybe less… don’t we have a projected very early 2nd (maybe not).

🏀The value here is insane. 11m a year is such a low risk/high reward. Gives this team a down low presence of physicality, rim protection, and size (he’s an ox) it needs. Team player with attitude, who loves to do the dirty work, and has no ego about coming off the bench. Familiar with a year and a half with Hali. Fits this team so well and adds a piece of something we need against teams with bruisers down low who have been taken advantage of Jalens/I-Jax weight/body type.

🏀I think Richaun is one of the most undervalued trade prospects in the entire league – who holds amazing value with his contract. Thanks for listening!

Great argument. With that contract, there isn’t much downside. Plus, its the kings, so they’d probably give him to us for a hot dog.

better rebounder than myles but i’d rather have a big who can shoot

  3. TurkishDonkeyKong

His contract does increase if he is traded
