Did the OKC Thunder just DRAFT another STAR in Jalen Williams ? | The NBA is noticing J-Dub

#OklahomaCityThunder #JalenWilliams #NBA #thunderup

The Oklahoma City Thunder rebuild has started off in a good way as the pieces are starting to fall together for the franchise this 2022-2023 NBA season. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is looking like a future superstar for OKC, while Josh Giddey, Lu Dort, Aleksej Pokusevski, Tre Mann, and the rest of the OKC Thunder’s young core have all been developing. But Jalen Williams has been a big revelation for the Thunder so far. Despite Chet Holmgren being out for the season, Jalen Williams or J-dub has been one of the best rookies from the 2022 NBA draft. He’s been a steady presence for OKC while averaging the 6th most minutes among all NBA rookies. Jalen Williams wins KIA NBA Western Conference rookie of the month and the NBA is now noticing how the OKC Thunder rookie could be a potential star, alongside SGA, Giddey, Holmgren, and Poku. Sam Presti and the Thunder front office appears to have drafted another future star.

Jalen Williams has been one of the most efficient rookies from his draft class and with OKC still having a ton of future draft picks, they can still land other young pieces including French Unicorn Victor Wembanyama. But right now, the Oklahoma City Thunder are looking like a scary team with Shai Gilgeous-Alexander playing like an MVP. Aleksej Pokusevski has also emerged in his third season and Josh Giddey is starting to look like a triple-double machine. But in this video, let’s look into why Jalen Williams could be a real star for the OKC Thunder.

  1. Great breakdown. JDub is much stronger than your avg rookie & knows how to take advantage. SGA s/b the perfect mentor.

  2. Jalen I think will be a future all star and I could see him being the #2 guy to SGA before this season is over it's guys like this that has me pumped and repeating what I have been saying for a long while OKC will not and has no need to trade for a Star cause we have our own. We are going to continue to use the draft to get guys we want and there is no such thing as too many draft picks what will happen is the competition is gonna get fiercer every yea.r I look forward to the battle next year between Poko and Dieng for a starting spot.

  3. Reminds me of Jrue Holiday. Giant guard, selfless, and seemingly makes the right play every time he touches the ball.

  4. I think its dependant on whether he can develop a mid range pull up shot or not. Right now he's relying too much on drives to the basket and floaters, which is pretty limited. Last game against Grizzlies his offense was nowhere to be seen (even with SGA being double/triple teamed) because they clog the paint and play agressive inside. This was exactly what changed this year for SGA, and look what happened. So yes, if he can drag them out of the paint by shooting mid range shots consistently, he can be Thunder's 3rd main player along with SGA and Chet.

  5. It’s very calming to know that if the rebuild drags on too long for Shai, and he requests a trade, we’ve got someone behind him with the potential to be the Shai 2.0. Obviously, there’s unlimited options that can affect player development in good or bad ways, and he could look like a completely different player 3 years from now, but as of right now, he looks like another Shai.
